HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2006-01-18, Page 19Correspondence The Huron Expositor • January 18, 2006 Page 19 Lloyd Eisler featured in Skating with Celebrities Seaforth's Lloyd Eisler is starring in a new reality show on Fox TV called Skating with Celebrities, which airs for the first time tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 18). "With Skating with Celebrities, you'll not only get to see seasoned professionals and hard-working celebritites, you'll get "to pick your favorite teams, rack up points and have fun doing it! Which celebrities will remain vertical and which will hit the ice?" says Fox TV's website. Eisler will be teamed up with actress Kristy Swanson, who was the original "Buffy" in the. movie Schwalm "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and fea- tured opposite Adam Sandler in the comedy "Big Daddy." The two are one of six teams pair- ing famous personalities with pro- fessional figure skaters to compete for a figure skating title. - Hosted by Olympic gold medalist and world champion Scott Hamilton, the show features partici- pants that have collectively won 40 World Championship medals and 11 Olympic medals. "Each episode will test the pairs' skills as the degree of difficulty increases and they demonstrate whether they can successfully pull off original and challenging skating sequences — or freeze under pres- sure," says the website. Other teams include • Actor/comedian Dave Coulier ("Full House") with two-time Olympic figure skating medalist Nancy Kerrigan • Olympic decathlon gold medalist and television personality Bruce Jenner with world champion pairs figure skater Tai Babilonia • Actor Todd Bridges ("Diff'rent Strokes") with three -time U.S. national pairs figure skating cham- pion and world championship medalist Jenni Meno • Singer/songwriter Deborah Gibson with four -time world figure skating champion Kurt Browning • Television personality, reporter and weather forecaster Jillian Barberie ("Good Day LA," "FOX NFL Sunday," "Good Morning, Miami") with three -time U.S. pairs figure skating champion and world championship medalist John Zimmerman. honoured by Horticultural Society At Carmel Presbyterian Church Tracy Whitson-Bahro's message was "Speak Lord." The offering was received by Harry Smith and Al Hoggarth. • The annual meeting of the Hensall and Community Horticultural Society was held Monday, Jan. 11 at Hensall United Church. President Luanne Phair welcomed everyone and asked Kay Wise to install the directors - Sandra Turner, Betty Simmons, Bill Gibson, Cecil Pepper, Sybille Schaufler, and Rita Van Wieren. President Luanne Phair, Treasurer Ann Maxwell, Secretary Janeth Sangster and Vice President Liz Sangster were then installed. The minutes of the 2004 annual meeting were then read and approved, and the minutes of the November meeting were also approved as read. President Luanne Phair asked Rachel Schwalm to come forward to receive a Service Certificate.
