CHSS students turning 18 just in time to vote
Ashley Eddie
Two Central Huron sec-
ondary students celebrate
their 18th birthdays on
Election Day, Jan. 23.
But, while Cam Laurie is
thrilled at the opportunity
to vote in the federal elec-
tion, Julian Bolinger is
skeptical about whether his
vote will make a difference.
"I figure it doesn't matter
who's in government," he
said. "Everybody will hate
them."
Bolinger doesn't find poli-
tics and the debates that
focus on the candidate's
views of Canada's major
issues that interesting, he
agreed.
"I haven't got my voter's
registration yet, so I proba-
bly can't anyway," he added.
However, he agreed he
does appreciate the opportu-
nity.
"It's nice to have a choice,"
he said.
Laurie, on the other hand,
is happy that he will get a
say in the Jan. 23 election.
"I'm glad I get to vote," he
said.
Neither of the two
wouldn't have been upset if
they turned 18 after the
election and weren't able
to vote.
"It doesn't really
change too much,"
Bolinger s . ' d.

• Recladding External Walls of Hospital
We are renovating! The older section of the
hospital built in 1964 requires recladding
to prevent moisture from collecting behind
the bricks, freezing and causing the bricks to
fall off. THe project, which will be
completed in May 2006, involves installing
an exterior -insulation system with a stucco
appearance. While the end result will be a
great improvement, the drilling will be noisy
at times. We appreciate your patience during this process and
apologize for any inconvenience.
• Hospital Auxiliary Fundraiser
The annual Hospital Auxiliary Tree of Lights, held November 27,
2005, was again well attended. Proceeds for this year's fundraiser will
be directed to equipment and assessment materials for Occupational
Therapy. To the Switchboard staff who sold tickets, Maintenance staff
for decorating the tree with lights, ALL our helpers and Santa, "Thank
you once again for your help". As always, "sincerest appreciation to
our community :supporters for another successful season; our work
depends upon the generosity of others". Tree of Lights Chairman,
Frances R. Teatero.
