The Meaning of Christmas
Christmas is joy, love, peace, giving, helping
At Christmas time most peo-
ple are always so excited but
usually it isn't because it's
Jesus' birthday. Usually people
are so excited because they're
getting presents. Christmas isn't
all about getting presents or
about Santa coming. It is still
about giving and receiving pre-
sents and about Santa but I think
Christmas is mostly about the
birth of Jesus.
Christmas is about praying
and getting prepared for Jesus'
birthday, putting up your trees
and stockings, getting in the
Christmas spirit. You could pray
foi sick people and for people
that have suffered or died.
Christmas is about getting
together with all of your family
and friends to celebrate this
wonderful time. It's about giv-
ing, but not just giving to family
and friends, but giving to the
poor people in the world, to give.
someone in the world a present,
it really means a lot to them.
Christmas isn't about working
and making your house look
absolutely perfect. You can still
put up decorations, but it doesn't
have to take all day. It's about
having fun and enjoying your-
self. So next time you're think-
ing about Christmas, don't think
about the agony of putting up
decorations, think about Jesus,
our Saviour and what you can do
to make someone's Christmas be
the best that it can be.

The meaning of Christmas is
to celebrate the birth of Christ. It
is a time to be giving to one and
other. Like shoveling your
neighbours driveway or side-
walk. But sometimes you get
carried away with presents like
that new xbox 360 you want.
And often forget to give food to
the poor but the real meaning of
Christmas is the birth of Christ.

The meaning of Christmas is
to celebrate the birth of Christ.
Some people think that the
meaning of Christmas is about
receiving from people and not
giving to people or helping peo-
ple. Some people don't know
what Christmas is about. So let's
tell them.
Christmas is about lots of
things, like God, Jesus, joy, hap-
piness, love, peace, giving, help-
ing others and lots of other
things.
Christmas is not just about
you. It's also about others in
your family and people all over
the world.

Some people get so caught up
with their Christmas shopping
and decorations that they forget
what Christmas is really about.
To some people Christmas is
about getting the presents and
toys, but really Christmas is
about the birth of Christ. During
the holiday season we still have
to shop and wrap presents but
we should leave time in our day
to remember what Christmas is
really about...the birth of Christ
and giving thanks.
Also, this holiday season don't
forget to help others. You can
make a real difference in some-
one's life just by shoveling out
their lane way, donating food to
the food bank, or giving to the
less fortune.
So this holiday season remem-
ber what Christmas is really
about and make someone's life
happier.

The true meaning of
Christmas is to help others. You
could help the older people,
shoveling the driveway and even
going to visit a neighbour that
lost their family and spending
time with them for the holidays.
Kristen Poppe, St. James School
It's not about getting, it's about
giving.
It's about the coming of Christ
and Jesus' birth. It is a time of
thankfulness and prayer. It's for
the celebration of Jesus and giv-
ing stuff to peoplb, like toys and
food to people that have nothing
so they can have a good
Christmas.
Keep this in mind and have a
Merry Christmas.

The Christmas holiday is a
very busy time of the year.
You're bullying gifts, you're
having big parties, but no one
ever thinks what Christmas is
really about. Christmas is about
Jesus being born, but that is not
the only thing. It means helping
people, giving food to the people
who can not afford it, and even
doing something nice for some-
one. Some times we just don't
think about those things. We
always assume every person has
the same normal life we have,
but some people can't afford
everything. They're not poor
they don't have a lot of money.
Let us remember them at this
time of year.

Christmas is...a time to give
but not expect to receive any
gifts in return most of the time.
Christmas is also about the birth
of Our Lord Jesus. At Christmas
time we should think of other
people like needy, poor, home-
less, hungry and people who
have just lost a member of their
family. For these people we can
bring them food, money, pre-
sents, and shelter. Also we can
go to our parish community and
pray. On Christmas Day we can
pray that Jesus came to Earth
and saved us. This is Christmas.
Christmas isn't...when we
don't give anything at all to
homeless, poor, needy, hungry
people that really need food,
money and shelter. You should
not give nothing to o the people
and expect to get something
from everybody you know that
bought presents. You should not
stay home instead of going to
church and giving thanks for the
birth of Christ. This is NOT
Christmas.

What does Christmas mean?
Christmas does not mean get-
ting, being greedy, not giving or
not sharing. The true meaning of
Christmas is totally the opposite.
Yes, you might think it means
presents and candy, but not real-
ly. It's more about Christ our
Saviour, who died for us.
I know that most kids are
interested in Christmas but take
the time to thank God for his
gifts.

When I think of Christmas I
think of the birth of our saviour,
Jesus Christ. Also I think of
being with my family and doing
good things like helping a
friend do some stuff that he/she
can't do.
Sometimes I get all worked up
about what I want for Christmas
but what you should do is give
thanks for all you have. Some
people don't have what we have
and we should try to do stuff like
give to the Christmas Bureau.
So this Christmas you can ask
for stuff from Santa, but also,
don't forget to give thanks for all
you have.
Shelby Hoggart
Grade 6

The meaning of Christmas is
love, joy, and happiness, not all
about presents and Santa Claus.
Yes, you should be happy and
have celebrations but you should
all think about Jesus' birth as
well. Also you should think
about other people at Christmas
time. People who are poor, or
their p parents do not have
enough money to buy them pre-
sents. For example, you could
donate a toy to the Huron
County Christmas Bureau. Also,
you could give money to the
missions. You could also give
food to the food bank, or partic-
ipate in Operation Christmas
Child! You could even shovel
another person's driveway to get
into the spirit.
I am not saying that giving
presents is bad or you shouldn't
receive them, just try not to be
greedy over them, or don't be
made because you didn't get
something that you really want-
ed, because there are many kids
out there that don't get anything
at all during Christmas time.
Remember that it is better to
give than to receive. And when
we give to each other, we are
giving back to God because he
gave us Jesus, our Saviour, his
own son, to teach us about lov-
ing one another, and it will take
a lifetime, to fulfill our Father's
wish of peace on earth. But for
some reason, regardless of the
fighting, we all come together at
Christmastime. Just think, if
Jesus hadn't have come, there
would be no Christmas.
