Cribbage and men's euchre leagues begin
Did you know you could become a
member of the Legion?
You don't have to be serving in the
Canadian Forces or be affiliated with someone
who has served in the Canadian Forces to be
eligible. You do need to be a Canadian citizen
and of legal voting age.
At one time, the Legion existed solely to
help Canadian veterans and to perpetuate the
memory of those who died in battle. Although
these remain our primary concerns, communi-
COMM
ty service as well as programs for
youth and seniors are also a vital
part of the Legion's mission today. If
interested, contact the Legion—(527-0740) or
Lin Steffler, membership chair, (527-2389) for
details.
The cribbage league started Nov. 14 and
men's euchre begins Nov. 16.
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will remember them.
Donelda Barry
Society shown how to make living wreaths
Seaforth and District
Horticultural Society met
Nov. 9 in Northside United
Church at 6 p.m.
Rev. Horst said Grace and
62 sat down to a turkey dinner.
Heather McLean introduced speaker
Brenda Campbell from Stratford who showed
us how to make a living wreath.
She started with an 18 -inch wire frame,
wrapped it with cedar roping, then inserted
different green plants, finishing with large
bow. Brenda declined the cheque pre-
sented to her by Margaret DeJong so
it was given to the Peace Garden.
Beatrice Stoll read a poem "Why"
concerning poppies. Janny Streutker
took the chair and welcomed every-
one. A draw on the dinner tickets was
won by Mary Finlayson.
Beatrice Stoll read minutes of the
October meeting. Dilys Finnigan
gave the treasurer's report. Kevin
Kale who had audited our books
spoke on the good job Dilys does and
