Seaforth's Luke Vick out 6-8 weeks
with broken bone in ankle after fluke accident

allEMED
It was like any other play in
front of the net until 20 -year-
old Luke Vick of Seaforth lost
his balance.
As he came crashing to the
his skate got caught in a
rut and, as he said, "I
heard a pop."
That pop was Vick
breaking the fibula
bone on the outside of
his ankle.
"Ijust felt instant
pain," said Vick, who
was playing for the St.
Mary's Lincolns in the
Western Junior B
Hockey League, when
the injury occurred.
The accident has side-
lined Vick since Oct.
16, and will continue to
do so for at least 6-8
weeks, according to his

"But as soon as he can walk
he'll be back out on the ice,"
she says.
Vick says the cast he's wear-
ing will come off Dec. 1, and
he plans to start running and
working out as soon as he can
to get back into game shape.
What makes the injury all
the more painful for Vick is
how well he was playing
before getting hurt.
In just 11 games, Vick had
accumulated 17 points.
Vick says he is a little wor-
ried he might not be able to
pick up where he left off.
"I think I'll be a little more
cautious," he said.
The Junior B season will
continue into February, fol-
lowed by the play-
offs.
Vick hopes to join
his teammates as
quickly as possi-
ble.
