There is talk of mutiny in
Ontario's most bountiful
county.
That topic was one of
several up for debate
Thursday during a panel
discussion, dubbed "Where
the future of farm
organizations are going?",
at the Huron County
Federation of Agriculture's
annual general meeting
held in Holmesville.
The panel, comprised of
Ontario Federation of
Agriculture representative
Paul Mistele, Ontario
Cattlemen's Association
president Ian McKillop,
Seaforth-area farmer Jim
McIntosh, grain and
oilseeds producer Bob
Down and former politician
Murray Gaunt, presented a
consistent theme that farm
associations must unite to

Radiothon
raises
$42,000
for Seaforth
hospital
Jeff Heuchert
The Seaforth community joined
together Saturday and raised
$42,279 during the CKNX Health
Care Heroes Radiothon for the
Seaforth Community Hospital.
The event was run by members of
the hospital's local advisory
committee, and featured a number
of performances throughout the day,
held at the Royal Canadian Legion
building on Main Street.
The advisory committee set a goal
of $25,000 for the fundraiser, so the
end result was overwhelming, said
event organizer Sheila Morton.
"Not only did we get off the
ground, we soared," she said.
Donations were accepted at the
Legion, or through call -ins, at
CKNX in Wingham.
Seaforth Community became the
12th hospital to take part in the
fundraiser, which is in its fourth
year, held across Huron and Bruce
counties.
The Legion housed a steady flow,
of donors, many of whom stayed to
. enjoy the entertainment.
Stratford Festival performer Lucy
Peacock, who was named honorary
chair for the Seaforth hospital, sang
a few songs for those in attendance
in the morning.
She said the event was important
so that the community gets the kind
of care they deserve.
"It (the radiothon) represents a
community looking after
themselves, their kids, their
families," said Peacock.
Much of the donations were made
through challenges.
In one instance, Huron East
Mayor Joe Seili donated $150,
challenging any other mayor or
