Mitchell fields questions from CHSS students
Cheryl Heath
Huron -Bruce MPP Carol
Mitchell paid a special trip
to her alma mater Friday
for a lesson in civics.
The former Reeve of
Central Huron made a pre-
sentation on her current
duties as a provincial par-
liamentarian who repre-
sents the largely agricultur-
al riding.
Mitchell's responsibilities,
which include being a par-
liamentary assistant to the
agriculture minister, out-
lined how the position

Noon calls the footage
a "wonderful gift" that
preserves a "nice piece
of life."
"It's not professional
all the time but it is
real. There's nothing
else like it," he says.
On the box housing
the Seaforth reel,
Massecar scribbled,
"Monday, June 6, 1949,
fair attendance, poor
advertising, Cardno
Hall."
Noon says the refer-
ence to Cardno Hall
could mean the film
was shown there at the
time.
Sometime this spring,
Noon says Western's
archives are hoping to
send DVD copies of the
footage to each town
filmed.
"The original films
are a little delicate so
we want to copy them
all. I think people will
want to see them. A lot
of people will recognize
their parents or grand-
parents in them. The
children on these films
will be in their 60s or
70s now," he says.
Huron -Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell'
keeps her
busy with a
host of
responsibili-
ties.
During a
question -
and -answer
period,
Mitchell
fielded a
number of
questions
from stu-
d e n t s,
including
several pointed ones from
Grade 10 student Jordan
Amoraal.
Jordan suggests that some
Ontarians have become
weary of voting because of
the perception that politi-
cians will say whatever it
takes to get into office.
Mitchell says constituents
must question decisions
that seem to fly in the face
of an earlier promise.
And, she adds,
"Sometimes it does look that
way. Even from where I am
sitting."

A Victorian -style cupola and a wrap-around veranda studded with overhead
skylights add a dash of fairytale charm to this handsome three bedroom,
two-storey family home. Entry is a couple of steps up from ground level and
through double doors to a grand foyer dominated by a curving staircase. To
the immediate right is a coat closet. Just beyond, through double doors, is a
formal dining room, separated from the kitchen by a doorway. The kitchen,
with an island cooktop and pantry, features a partial double -height ceiling.
This room flows into a breakfast nook, tucked into the bay of a window
overlooking the back garden. The family room, opo to both kitchen and
nook, features a fireplace, a wet bar and a small phode dolt; lid has doors
