Local Singers to perform
for Seaforth Community
Hospital Fundraiser
By Susan Hundertmark
Expositor Editor
A Harmony Kings concert
to raise money for Seaforth
Community Hospital on Oct.
1 will feature local singers
and dancers.
"We're hoping for a full
house of 400. We wanted to
support the hospital so we
decided to work for it instead
of just signing a cheque," says
Harmony Kings member
Marlen Vincent.
The benefit variety show at
7:59 p.m. at Seaforth Public
School will include singing
by Don and Lindsay Sills,
Laura Elligsen and the quartet
Chordwalk, made up of
Harmony Hi-Lites' members
Katie Teall, Audrey
McLlwain, Melissa Snyders
and Marg Whitmore and
dancing by the Huron County
Cloggers, Sarah Elligsen and
Abbie McGavin and the trio
of Carlene Bremner, Courtney
Feeney and Kristen Walsh.
"We know that not
everybody likes just
barbershop so we decided to
mix it up a bit. There's piles
of local talent out there," says
Vincent.
While the Harmony Kings
attempted to recruit some new
members to sing in a large
male chorus for the event,
member Barry Mahon says
the group didn't have much
luck.
"We weren't successful at
getting any new members but
we're still looking forward to
doing the show," says Mahon.
"Normally, we hire a
topnotch quartet and do most
of the singing ourselves but
it's all local talent this time.
It's going to be a really good
talent show," he says.
Mahon says the concert is a
statement members of the
Harmony Kings wanted to
make about how valuable the
hospital is to the town.
"We want to let people
know we'll do whatever it
takes to keep Seaforth's
hospital open. It's our way of
saying, 'Don't mess with it,"'
he says.
Tickets are $12 for adults
and $6 for children 12 and
under. They are available at
the hospital switchboard and
at various businesses in
downtown Seaforth.
