Pilot project places art in Seaforth medical centre By Susan Hundertmark Expositor Editor Visitors to the Seaforth Community Medical Centre will rub shoulders with local works of art while they wait for their medical appointments, thanks to its new Gone Public program. Acrylics, watercolours and photographs by Huron County artists are currently on display for patients to contemplate in a new program launched by Heritage and Cultural Partnership (HCP), . an organization that provides support and services to foster growth and prosperity for its members within the arts, culture and heritage communities of Huron County. "My impression is it takes you out of the waiting room and into another place - at least I hope it does," says Dr. Anne Laviolette, whose watercolour landscapes are now being displayed at the medical centre. The Gone Public program brokers a dozen works of art by members in the Goderich Co- op Gallery to the Seaforth Community Hospital Trust, with artwork hung throughout the medical centre, both in the waiting room and in the board room. As well, several pieces of art are hanging in the locum physician's apartment on the second floor of the Seaforth post office. "From a doctor recruitment standpoint, I hope they can enjoy the artwork in our area," says Seaforth Community Hospital Trust chair Ron Lavoie. Lavoie says he's already had patients at the centre remark on how the art brightens up the waiting room "and their day." "This program really celebrates the work that our Ioca artists are doing. It takes the artwork out 'nto the community, putting it into places where the public visits on a routine basis. They can appreciate the work, and even purchase pieces that really strike their fancy," says Heather Boa, HCP coordinator. The art hanging in Seaforth is a pilot project. If successful, Boa says other public buildings throughout Huron County will be approached with the same opportunity in mind. "Our vision is to see all County artists involved in this program, with their artwork on display in all sorts of public places," she said. Paul Carroll, of Central Huron and a former Seaforth resident, says he's excited to display his watercolours of marine heritage scenes in a clinic he and his family frequented for 30 years. "It gets me back in that clinic," he laughs. Carroll says it's probably not widely - known that 12-15 little artist's studios are located across Huron County and that more and more local residents are buying the artwork produced by their neighbours. "I hope the concept can grow. It's a county venture that's got a lot of potential," he says. A reception was held last Thursday at the medical centre to launch the project. —111=11— `This program really celebrates the work that our local artists are doing,' - Heritage and Cultural Partnership coordinator Heather Boa Huron SENIOR HOUSELEAGUE 2005-2006 BLUES Alex Melady Scott Selvy Dalton Becker Jeff Decorte Nic Flanagan Jacob Flanagan Travis Jansen Devon Murray Tim Ryan Courtney Janmaat Kaidin Arrts Leah Decorte Shayna Melday Marrissa Scott Ethan Scott , Hannah Jansen Tyler Primeau Jenn Baer Laura Murray Tabitha Arts BRUINS Andrea Rowntree Evan Ribey Cody Bennewies Kalen Devereaux Matt Springall Jeremy Crocker Trevor Keys Spencer Gibbs Deanna Devereaux Blake Sangster Owen Taylor Morgan Bennewies Jeremy Chishlom Heather Heard Abby McGavin Mac Beuermann William Ringenberg Ben Bakker Michael Kelly Olivia Beuermann PANTHERS Paul Doig Brendan Ryan Colin Campbell Taylor Williamson Brad Van Bakel Keegan Melady Randy Murray Ashley Janmaat Brandon Beaver Zac Garrow Ken Van Bekel Jacob McClure Darcy Williamson Tom Garrick Megan Bedard Logan Bruxer Samantha Goulding Britnney Rose Janathon Goulding Kassidy Eckert Macauley Morlon DUCKS Luke Harrison Eric Van Doornik Scott Campbell Connor Cronin lan Van Doornik Jack Looby Dean Jonhston Brandon Sailows Zack McLean Kaden Cronin James Looby Mike Kramers Matt Coyne Nic Van Bakel Matt Ryan James Beuermann David Robinson Sara Kramers Thomas Murray Jason Flanagan JUNIOR HOUSELEAGUE 2005-2006 KINGS Cody Kropf Tyler Morey Kalen Martene Brooklynn Finlayson Stuart Perkes Craig Perkes Jake Finlayson Jacob Nigh David Metzger Kiernyn Campbell Sean Kelly Edward Glanville Cameron Morton Holdyn Lansink Brandon Dorssers OILERS LEAFS SHARKS Brett Williamson Colin Jansen Logan Lammerant Maddie Melady Zack Vuiders Scott Malone Luke Melady Robert Campbell David Menheere Mark Robinson Jordan Pepper Wade Lammerant Kourtney Ribey Gavin Campbell Colin Asket Jesse Sangster Zac Goos Shannon O'Reilly Jared Anstett Jake Campbell Nikki Van Miltenburg Wilson Marcy Cora Taylor Sam Steep Josh Robinson Jake Harrison Liam Melady Brad Vincent Casey Harrison Sarah Devereaux Emily Beuermann Jack Henderson Zac Bakker Melissa Chisholm Natasha Arts Cody Roden Lauren Bedard Farren Goos Hailey McIntyre Quinn Gibson Tyler Eckert Russell MacDonald Ryan Williamson Brayden Pryce Zac Hammell SATURDAY, SEPT. 24 w GAME TIMES TIME 6:30 a.m. 7:30 a.m. 8:30 a.m. 9:30 a.m. HOME VISITOR Blues vs. Kings vs. Leafs vs. Panthers vs. Bruins Oilers Sharks Ducks HAVE A GREAT SEASON!
