Susan Hundertmark photo First skate of the season WIth 30 degree weather outside Sunday, Ruth Ann Vulders, of Seaforth decided to help her three-year-old daughter Alicia find her skating legs for the upcoming season during the first public skate at the Seaforth arena. Correspondents Winthrop Warriors win B trophy at year-end tourney The topic for Sunday ' s sermon at Winthrop Cavan United Church was "Once More From The Heart." Greeter was Ruth Campbell and the offering was collected by Bud Eyre and Don Dodds. Sunday school has resumed, so parents don't forget to bring your children to this program. Judy Beuerman, Betty Glanville and Karen Braecker will be happy to have you attend their classes. Seaforth Fall Fair was lucky to have gorgeous weather for this event. Several members of the Winthrop area has successful entries. Don and Maja Dodds had relatives from Holland visiting for a few days. A cousin of Maja's and her husband, daughter, son-in-law and two children are enjoying visiting with the Dodds as well as several interesting points in Ontario. Winthrop Warriors brought home the B trophy at their year end tournament on the weekend in Varna. Friday night they won over Auburn. Saturday morning they were beat by Zurich. Then at 3 p.m. they won against Holmesville. The 5 p.m. B final against the Wingham Smokies gave them the trophy. Playing on the team are John Blanchard, Jeff Campbell, Tom Fehr, Tom Jarrett, Tom Leppington, Brian McGavin, Doug Perkes, Gord Pryce, Adrian Salverda, Doug Schroeder, Bert Vandendool, Brian Lloyd and Jerry Zwep. Absent were Murray Bennewies, Bob Clark and Pete Martene. Coaches Ed Salverda and Don McClure had a tooth and nail battle all day long. Fun was had by all. Sympathy to Ron's wife, Helen, and their daughter, Michelle. Ron was a director on the Usborne and Hibbert Mutual Fire Insurance Board. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Sept. 13th with Rev. Alan Dufraimont as celebrant with burial in At. Patrick's Cemetery. Emma Beuerman, daughter of Colleen and Scott and Elizabeth O'Rourke, daughter of Kerri Ann and Shawn O'Rourke and Meg Schoonderwoerd, daughter of Beth and Ken Schoonderwoerd received the sacrament of baptism recently. St. Patrick's Cemetery Sunday will be held this Sunday, Sept. 18. Mass in the church will be held at 11 a.m. followed by a procession to the cemetery grounds for blessing of the graves. St. Vincent de Paul will hold their Cemetery Sunday on the same day at 2 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.
