CALL 1.800.265.3438 FOR 1011 FREE MOVIE INFO Sports • Art Finlayson Memorial tourney draws 91 bowlers to Seaforth Weather ideal for tournament's 26th anniversary Wednesday The Seaforth Lawn Bowling greens saw 91 bowlers in play on Wednesday, Aug. 17 in the 26th anniversary of the Art Finlayson Memorial tournament. The weather was ideal. Drawmaster Neil Beuerman welcomed all present and Mary Finlayson also extended greetings on behalf of her family. First prize was won by Ed and Edna Braithwaite of Sarnia. Fred Tilley and Donna Beuerman of Seaforth came sixth. There were prizes for every team entered and many favourable comments were given by outside bowlers for the well run tournament, the excellent greens, the lovely prizes. and money which had been donated and the food. An added feature this year was having hot dogs and hamburgers available all day. Drawmasters Neil, Fred and Lee kept the draw running smoothly, and the ladies in the kitchen did a super job of providing and serving complimentary food and coffee during the day. Carol Carter and Maureen Thompson of London bowled for Ontario in the Canadian Championships last week and won the gold medal, defeating British Columbia in the final game 15-10 to win gold. Monday evening men bowlers held a mini tournament last Monday evening and winners were first, Keith Snell and Phil Hoggarth; second, Doug Jones and John Walton; third, Steve Hook and Murray McClure and consolation Jack Muir and Bill Dyke. In men's pairs at St. Marys last Tuesday, Jack Muir and Erich Matzold won fourth. Friday, August 26 will be barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs for supper followed by a club tournament for all members in a mixed jitney fun evening.
