prepares for bazaar
tieaforth Legion
We are getting settled
down after the "Come
Home to the Country"
weekend. It was certainly a
busy one.
We were very pleased
with the results of
everything. Our new
members did a fantastic job.
It is really good to see the
younger ones taking such an
interest in our Legion as
they are the ones we will
have to depend on one day
to keep our Legions going.
The Ladies Auxiliary is
having a bazaar on Oct. 29.
We' would like to see
everyone come out and see
all we have on display. The
quilt that was made is now
on display at the Legion if
anyone would like to see it.
The Legion lawn bowling
fun night is on Aug. 19 at 7
p.m. if anyone is interested.
At the going down of the
sun we will remember them.

Local businesses included on farm
to table map for Huron, Perth tourists
If you're having trouble finding the closest farm that
produces emu. meat, organic salad greens or maple onion and
chive dip, a new map will show you how to hit the flavour trail
in Huron and Perth Counties.
Produced by the Perth County Visitors Association and the
Huron Tourism Association, the map shows residents and
visitors where to find farm fresh products.
"We've created a map where you can buy fresh produce,
fruit, fish, meat and all kinds of speciality product, all across
Perth and Huron counties where you can buy right from the
farms," said Cathy Bieman, acting manager of the Perth
County Visitors Association.
With Perth County hosting the 2005 International Plowing
Match next month, County Warden Ed Hollinger says that the
map is a great way of showcasing agriculture in the area.
"We hope it will encourage both local citizens and visitors to
the region to travel through the county to enjoy healthy, locally
grown farm products," Hollinger said in a press release.
The map features various types of producers, including:
maple syrup and honey; fruit; meat products; fish and seafood;
vegetables, plants, herbs and seeds; jams, oils, vinegars,
condiments and other preserves; veggies; prepared foods;
baked goods; cheeses and other specialty products.
"Many of our local producers would like to see more of their
busint:ss come through sales straight from the farm," said
Bieman. "This map provides consumers with a great tool to
find some of the best produce, meat, maple syrup, baked goods
and many other products that come right from farms across
Huron and Perth."
Close to 60 producers have listings in the map, including
Seaforth-area producers Peggoty's B&B and Tearoom, RR 2
Seaforth farm Windstone Acres, Storeys' Maple Syrup, Honey
and Pork Products and Jim Rapson Organic Farm.
"The map is great for someone wanting to make one stop or
throw a cooler in the car and make a day out of it," said
Bieman.
Featuring a road map of the two counties, the map also
provides a listing of each vendor. The listing includes the
producer's 911 number, road name, hours and dates of
operation and types of products or services offered.
The map is available at tourism offices across Huron and
Perth, at each participating producer and a number of locations
including the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food offices
in Stratford and Clinton.
"It's just really getting people to be aware of their
surroundings and to support your local farmers," said Bieman.
