BULLS WITHIN THE
MUNICIPALITY OF HURON EAST
PIT BULLS TO BE REGISTERED
Take notice that Ontario Legislation - Bill 132, Public
Safety Related to Dog Statute Law Amendment Act 2005
will come into force August 29th, 2005 (with a 60 day
transition period for owners to comply with leashing,
muzzling and sterilization requirements. After that date,
individuals (other than pounds and research facilities as
defined in the Animal Research Act and owners of
`grandfathered' pit bulls) will be prohibited from owning
pit bulls. If you are currently an owner of a pit bull dog
defined in the legislation as follows:
"Pit Bull includes, (a) a pit bull terrier, (b) a Staffordshire
bull terrier, (c) an American Staffordshire terrier, (d) an
American pit bull terrier, (e) a dog that has an appearance
and physical characteristics that are substantially similar to
those dogs referred to in any clauses (a) to (d)."
YOU MUST REGISTER your pit bull(s) with the
Municipal Clerk of the Municipality of Huron East, 72
Main Street South, Seaforth on or before August 29th, 2005
during regular business hours 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in
addition to all other licensing requirements of the
Municipality. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the
`grandfathered' status of the particular pit bull under the
provincial legislation.
An individual who contravenes any provision of this Act or
the regulations or who contravenes an order made under
this act or the regulations is guilty of an offence and liable,
on conviction, to a fine of not more than $10,000 or to
imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or
both.

Marijuana, valued at $4.6 million
seized during four -county raid
Close to 500 plants found on farms between Seaforth and Clinton
Close to 2,500 marijuana
plants were seized in Huron
County as part of a
marijuana eradication
program in Huron, Perth,
Grey and Bruce Counties last
week by the Ontario Police
Drug Enforcement Section
and the Emergency Response
of the OPP.
A total of 4,600 marijuana
plants from farmers' fields
and bush lots throughout the
four counties were found
with an estimated value of
over $4.6 million.
Close to 500 plants were
found on farms between
Clinton and Seaforth.
One man was arrested and
charged with the production
of a controlled substance
during the seizures.
Also police recovered two
stolen ATVs.
Illegal marijuana will be
ready to harvest sometime in
late August or in September.
The OPP are asking farmers
to report any suspicious
activity they may see around
the farm. Look for vehicles
parked unattended in the
morning and evening hours
and footprints along the
edges of your crops.
Farmers who come across
marijuana in their crops or
bushes are asked to call the
Huron OPP immediately.

NOTICE OF PASSING OF ZONING
BY-LAW AMENDMENT
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Huron East passed
By-law No. 57-2005 on the 9th day of August, 2005 under Section 34 of the Planning Act,
R.S.O. 1990, as amended.
AND TAKE NOTICE that any person or agency may appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board
in respect of the by-law by filing with the Clerk of the Municipality of Huron East, not later
than the 4th day of September, 2005, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-
law and the reasons in support of the objection, accompanied by payment of the fee prescribed
under the Ontario Municipal Board Act.
AMOUNT OF FEE payable on appeal is $125.00.
Only individuals, corporations and public bodies may appeal a zoning by-law to the Ontario
Municipal Board. A notice of appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or
group. However, a notice of appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member
of the association or the group on its behalf.
AN EXPLANATION of the purpose and effect of the by-law, describing the lands to which
the by-law applies is provided .below. The complete by-law is available for inspection at the
Clerk's office during regular business hours.
If a person or public body that files an appeal of a decision of the Corporation of the
Municipality of Huron East in respect of the proposed zoning by-law does not make oral
submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Corporation of the
Municipality of Huron East before the proposed zoning by-law is adopted, the Ontario
Municipal Board may dismiss all or part of the appeal.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT
As a text amendment, this Zoning By-law affects the Brussels Zoning By-law, the Seaforth
Zoning By-law and the Thckersmith Zoning By-law and affects all of the Ward of Brussels,
the Ward of Seaforth and the Ward of Tuckersmith in the Municipality of Huron East.
The By-law:
1. Adds definitions for `Condominium Act', `Planning Act', 'Terms'.
2. Deletes the existing Definition of 'lot' and replaces it with a new Definition for 'lot' to
include:
• a lot in a plan of subdivision;
• a whole of a unit in a Vacant Land Condominium;
• a parcel of commonrelements within a Vacant Land Condominium or within a Common
Elements Condominium Plan;
• the whole of the lands within a Standard Condominium Plan;
• a conveyable parcel.
3. Deletes the existing General Provisions for 'Lots to Front on a Public Road' and replaces it
with new General Provisions for `Lots to Front on a Public Road':
• require lots to abut or front on a public road and that such public 'road is of satisfactory
construction and maintenance;
• to allow structures to be built on lots in a Vacant Land Condominium Plan or on a Common
Element Condominium on a private road provided that access to the Plan is by a public road;
• to allow a condominium plan access to a public road through lands entirely within one or
more other condominium plans.
