Weather toys with lawn bowlers
Seaforth Lawn Bowling
club was able to host their
tournament Sunday, July 17
despite Saturday's downpour
flooding the greens. They
were still in excellent shape
Sunday thanks to the
greenskeepers.
Taking first prize were Lee
Ryan and Carol Carter of the
home club. Second went to
George and Doris Cantelon
of Clinton and third was
Dave Ducklow of Seaforth
with Audrey Hepburn of
Stratford. Fourth prize went
to Harry and Shirley Jacobi
of Lucknow, fifth to Ken
S('aforth Lawn Bowling Club
Rolph and June Moore of
Mitchell and sixth were
Seaforth's Rick Wood and
Carol Hey.
Refreshments and lunch
was served during the day by
the Tilley family and helpers.
Due to last week's extreme
heat some out-of-town
tournaments were shortened
to 10 ends.
Last Sunday Jack and
Marie Muir won fourth prize
at the Stratford Wayne and
Joanne Young tournament.
Monday, July 11 at 6 p.m.
saw several teams from
Seaforth at their 3-8 end
game. Lee Ryan and Carol
Carter won first prize. Jack
and Marie Muir came third
and Rick Wood and Jean
Shillington won fifth.
Wednesday at Clinton saw
Erich and Joyce Matzold
winning second, Jack and
Marie Muir coming fourth
and Lee Ryan and Carol
Carter winning consolation.
Unfortunately due to
temperatures in the high 30s
one Seaforth team was
unable to howl the third
gamd.
Bowling at London's
Fairmont Club in the over 50
men's pairs last Tuesday saw
Lee Ryan and Kevin Rumig
take home first prize.
Tuesday evening will be
pot luck supper at 6 p.m.
followed by cards or lawn
bowling. Hostesses are Bea
Stoll and Lucy Jones. These
monthly socials are popular
with bowlers and associates.

NOTICE
RE: FEES FOR FALSE ALARMS
AND NUISANCE ALARMS
On July 13, 2005 the Blyth & District Fire Department
adopted a policy to charge for false alarms and/or
nuisance alarms. When a false alarm or nuisance alarm
results from a direct hookup to a monitoring system, a fee
will be charged to cover the fire department's expenses for
responding to the alarm.
In each calendar year, one false alarm will be allowed
without charge. This notice will be issued as a waming and
any subsequent calls, if the fire department is dispatched,
will be invoiced at a rate of $500 per response.
