O. L. No. 493, the funeral•took place
here on. Monday morning of James Ar-
mitage, whio, died in London alt theage
of 83 years. He wta♦s(.onte of the first
members of the. order here. Three
iephews and three • grand nephews
were bearers, 'Thomas, Fred and Jos
eph Armitage, Sidney .Hodgine, H, W.
Hudgins and Herman Powe. 'Hie wid-
ow, formerly Emma'Meades of Bid-
dulph, survives. Much of the life of
the deceasedwas spent in .Biddulpl.
He 'taught school in McGillivray, and
later conducted a marble ; Nvorksr in
Lucan: He moved • to London 25 years
