Sunday school awards
at Cavan United Church
Winthrop
The theme for the Father's
Day service at Cavan United
Church was "Buried in
Baptism." Greeters and
collectors were Susan and
Larry Wheatley. A sing -song
of hymns suggested by the
men of the congregation were
enjoyed by all.
Last Sunday, during the
service, the Sunday School
awards were given out by
superintendent Brenda
Bernard. From the church the
children and teachers
travelled to Gordon and Irma
Pryce's pond for a fishing
expedition where several fish
were caught, most of which
were returned to the water.
Hot dogs and squares were
also enjoyed.
Next Sunday our service
will be held outdoors at the
Winthrop Ball Park at 10 a.m.
A brunch will follow. All are
welcome.
Ron Little, husband of
Elaine Little, died recently.
Ron grew up in Winthrop and
attended Cavan Church and
S.S. 10 McKillop school.
Anyone travelling through
Winthrop is invited to take a
look at our most recent
resident. He is located
directly to the south of thc
newest house in thc
community. He is about 7
feet tall, quiet, and on windy
days may lay down for a nap.
The Campbell family held
their Father's Day get-
together at Sandra and Terry
Morey's, Seaforth. The
grandchildren enjoyed the
pool.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Perhaps the best way to
live happily ever after is not
to be after too much.
