"The name of the campaign is actually the hospital auxiliary 'relief fund. We're going to be canvassing using urinals from the hospital," said auxiliary president Bonnie Bedard, warning that the bedpan urinals are brand new. During the Friday evening and Saturday morning of the Come Home to the Country festival on July 29 and 30, the auxiliary will be canvassing as part of a Tag Day on Seaforth's main street looking for a donation in exchange for a bookmark. Also this year, the group is selling quilt raffle tickets for a draw to be held at the annual Seaforth Fall Fair in September. "With the money we're hoping to gain this summer, throughout our projects, we're hoping to buy some new furniture for the waiting room in the emergency department," said Bedard. Money raised by the auxiliary, Bedard said, goes to help patient care at Seaforth Community Hospital. Last year, with the funds raised at the Tree of Lights fundraiser the auxiliary bought a specialized wheelchair for patients who have suffered a stroke. Because of the members of the auxiliary are aging, the group cannot do as many of the fundraisers as they would Archdeacon Stephaniuk dies at 88 Rev. Marie, are ready for this year's tag day fundraiser. like to. "Our members are getting a little seasoned, as you might say, and we can't do as many of the projects that we'd like to do," said Bedard. This year, the group cancelled their annual penny sale because the members did not feel up to the challenge of organizing the event. "It's very labour intensive and some of our ladies couldn't do it anymore," said Bedard, adding that the penny sale was cancelled last year because they couldn't find a venue to host it. Bedard said that the group could always use more volunteers who eventually could help some empty executive positions within the auxiliary. "That seems to be the problem right now," she said. "We could always use young blood." Bedard said that the group_ is open to men despite what people might think. "So many people make that presumption because we're mostly all ladies, but men can join too," said Bedard. Campers use Ag Society sites for past nine years By Jason Middleton Expositor Staff With 32 serviced sites — which feature hydro and water connections — the Seaforth Agricultural Society's campground attracts campers capacity .crowds to at least three events every year. For the past nine years, the Ausable River Nomads, a group of recreational vehicle owners, visits the park for a spring campout. Bruce Coleman, a coordinator with the Ausable River Nomads, said that the Agriplex campsites are perfect for the group. "We need some place that can handle our numbers," Coleman said, adding that RV's attending the event can exceed 60. During their visit to Seaforth, the Nomads took part in Saturday, June 4's community -wide yard sale, visited Hensall's Ice Culture, played games and took in some entertainment. Jim Floyd, a director of the Seaforth Ag Society's Tractor Elimination Draw, said other groups that use the camping grounds for events include members of an Airstream camping group and participants in the Ag Society's annual Tractor Elimination Draw. Floyd said that sometimes they get people who want to use the campground for a couple of days as they are passing through town. He said that he is hoping more people use the facility especially with the Come Home to the Country Festival coming up. Floyd said that for at least the last 10 years the Ag Society has provided the sites for campers looking for a place to stay. The sites, which are available for use from May to November, are located on the Ag Society's property north of the Agriplex and cost $15 a night.
