At Hensall United Church Dorothy Corbett was the greeter with Eric and Eleanor Mansfield looking after the ushering duties. The organist was Carol Carter. Pastor Fred Darke's message was "the gifts of the prophets." Mona Alderdice lit the Christ Candle and also gave the reading. Anyone 1lensall wishing to contribute articles suitable for the yard sale can bring their donations to the Hensall United Church where they will be stored until sold. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Tracy Whitson-Bahro was the minister with Joyce Pepper supplying the music for the service. "The Power and the Presence" was the topic of the message given by Tracy and Greg. Al Hoggarth and Harry Smith received the offering. On Sunday, May 29, Carmel Church will celebrate its anniversary service. There will be special music for this occasion. The Hensall and Community Horticultural Society is sponsoring a Canada Day decorating contest for homes and businesses. The deadline to enter is June 24. For more information phone 262-2715. Local seniors enjoy Dining Out program Over 80 local seniors -- came out to dine for lunch at the Seaforth Dining Out program held at the Seaforth Arena. The diners were treated to homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes, veggies, coleslaw, and homemade dessert. We were privileged to have the Fellowship Singers Seaforth Dining Out come and entertain for us. The crowd enjoyed them immensely. Door ptizes were won by Amy Wiggins, Ruth Yeandle, John Johnston, Zelda Bannerman, John McCallum, i. Teresa Maloney and Laura Eggert. Share the Wealth winners were Marion Becker, Shirley Snell, Wilma Pennings, Catherine Hak, Shirley Stewart and Marion Smith. Our next Seaforth and Area Dining Out program will be on Thursday, May 19. 4-H Chinchilla Club wraps up year The Chinchilla Club held its show and auction on April 30 at the Walton Hall. Seven members showed 13 animals. The members groomed their animals by combing them. Ranchers Jack Wilkins from Lucknow and Ray Storey from Winthrop judged the 4-H animals. Jim Campbell from Walton Chinchilla Club auctioned the chinchillas and prices received for each animal ranged from $30 to $85. Our 4-H show champion and reserve champion was Randy Murray and our best groomed were Ian Murray and Will Fleming. This was our last meeting Kippen Gun Club to host trap shooting clinic for kids By Jason Middleton Expositor Staff On June 18, the Kippen Gun Club will be holding a free trap shooting clinic for children aged 12, to 16 interested in learning about the sport. "What we're trying to do is get some younger people involved in trapshooting," said club owner Jamie Caldwell. The event will start around 10 a.m. at the Kippen Gun Club and will begin with a session on gun instructions. The participants will then get an opportunity to shoot at 25 clay targets with a member of the Kippen Gun Club instructing them. "I think it's important to have that one on one coaching," Caldwell said. The children will break for lunch and will then try their luck at another 25 targets to see how they improve. The event is free of charge to. the first 15 children who register. "It's a great opportunity for any kids who are interested in the sport and want to try it," Caldwell said. "It's a free day, you can't go wrong." Love Mum, Ron, Brian, Christie, Cody and the Swinhels Family Bill Gibson and Les Hills hosted a dinner party on Saturday evening for Mr and Mrs Dave Leyes, Mr and Mrs Robert Cooper, and Mr and Mrs Ken Finnan. The dinner had been purchased at the United Church auction held last fall. Hensall will be holding a village -wide yard sale on May 28. There will be sales on every street with lots of fun and bargains for everyone. The popular Firemen's Breakfast will be presented, and there will be rides for the kids down by the tracks.
