Nora said.
At last year's banquet,
Nora was named the female
player of the year.
"It's definitely an honour
for all of us to be able to
achieve all these awards,"
she said. "You work hard for
them."
In her career, Nora has
been involved with
broomball on the local,
provincial and federal levels.
She also has her National
Coaching Certificate from
the Coaching Association of
Canada.
Eckert is also the president
of the Seaforth Broomball
League. She said she's very
happy with the way the sport
is going in Seaforth.
"Our division with the
juniors has really grown
tremendously," said Eckert.
"There's a lot of kids that
come out now."
Eckert's role in minor
sports in Seaforth was
recognized in 1991 when she
was awarded by the town of
Seaforth.
Almost 25 years ago, Nora
said that she was one of the
driving forces that helped
organize the sport in
Seaforth.
Along with coaching and
playing, Nora and Steven
also timekeep for games.
Steven has also helped coach
broomball.
Nora currently helps coach
a kids' team in Seaforth, a
men's team in Blyth and
plays on a women's team.
With as much experience
as she has, Eckert said that
she tries to keep up with the
younger players on her team.
"I do my best. It's just nice
to be able to help them and
show them the ropes," said
Eckert.
If she had to go a season
without playing the sport,
Eckert said it would be very
odd.
