April 27. 2005 Correspondents 2005 Legion elections held Elections were held Thursday night and the new executive for 2005 includes president, Ann Wood, first vice president Gwen Harburn, second vice president Rick Fortune, secretary -Paul Spittal, Sgt - At -Arms to be appointed and executive, Colin Young, Mike Smale, Dave Watson, Ed Baker, Pat Dejong and Lin Steffler. The George Gallant Eucltre tournament in Grand Bend Legion will be held Saturday, May 14. Register at 10 a.m. The zone golf will be at Ironwood G.G. in Exeter June 11. The deadline is May 20 and the sign up sheet is on notice board. There will be a church service at the Dutch reform church in Exeter on May 7 at 11 a.m. in honour of the liberation of Holland and the end of the Second World War. Also Second World War veterans and members are invited to Goderich for their activities on May 14 and 15. A trip to the new war museum is being planned for Oct. 17-19. Late news flash - the team of Ed Baker, Jack Muir, Jack Eisler, Al Nicholson, who are in Sudbury, placed fifth in the Dominion cribbage championship. The result is very good considering they were playing teams from across Canada. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. At Hensall United Church Helen MacLean welcomed everyone. The service began with Carol Carter playing the organ. Linda Traquair lit the Christ Candle and also was the reader. Linda and Jerry Traquair were the ushers. Rev Alun Thomas was the 1 Iensall guest minister for the morning worship. There will be no service at Hensall United Church on May 29 due to Conference Sunday. Items for the village yard sale may be left at the church, for more information please phone Cecil at 262- 2201. The Carmel Presbyterian Church is holding a roast beef supper at the Hensall Community Centre on May 1 News Leather coat stolen from truck A black leather coat, valued at $400, was stolen from an unlocked truck parked in Egmondville sometime overnight on April 20. The coat with the logo "Logan Farm Equipment" was taken from a 2004 Chev Silverado on Third Street in Egmondville. The program includes two components: • A general payment of $841.5 million. Producers of all commodities, with the exception of supply managed commodities, are eligible for this payment. • A direct payment of $155 million to producers of cattle and other eligible ruminants including bison, elk, deer, goats and sheep. If you received a payment under the Transitional Industry Support Program (TISP) in 2004, you do not need to apply. Payments will be sent to you automatically. If you did not receive a payment under the TISP program in 2004, you can apply now. Applications are now available on the Farm Income Payment Web site at www.agr.gc.ca/ftp or by calling toll free at 1-866-367-8506. The deadline to apply is July 31, 2005.
