Second annual
Drowin' Dog
canoe rally raises
$1,500 for charity
By Susan Hundertmark
Expositor Editor
The second annual
Drownin' Dog canoe rally
had more entries and made
$500 more than last year,
says organizer Brett Lee.
The canoe rally, which
runs four miles down the
Bayfield River between
Brett Lee's house in
Egmondville and Brian
Melady's house downriver,
was postponed for three
weeks to find the perfect
day.
"It was originally going to
run on Good Friday but the
weather was so bad we had
to keep putting it off. But,
the weather on the weekend
was perfect. It was definitely
worth the wait," says Lee.

The non-competitive rally
was run like a poker rally
with refreshment and
barbecue stops along the
river.
Lee says more than 100
people participated in the
event this year, some of
them three to a canoe. He
says there were also more
women participating this
year.
"Many of the people had
never canoed before," he
says.
Proceeds from the $1,500
raised at the event were split
between the Seaforth
Curling Club, the Canadian
Cancer Society's Relay for
Life and the local Boy
Scouts who donated canoes
for use during the event.
