Huron Expositor, 2005-03-16, Page 1414 - THE HURON EXPOSITOR, March.16. 2005 Sports Locals make up junior curling team that made it to the semi-finals of Timbit tourney By Susan Hundertmark Expositor Editor A junior curling team, made up of members of the Seaforth Curling Club and Seaforth Public School, won three out of four games before being eliminated in the semi-finals in the recent Timbits provincial curling championship. The Seaforth team, consisting of Taylor Bennewies, Kelsi Trotter, Jessica Menary, Nikki Steep and Avery Bennewies, competed in the Haliburton tournament, where 56 teams were entered. Seaforth won its first game against Guelph 7-4, lost its second game against Ottawa 6-4, won its third game against Burlington 6-5 and won its fourth game against Tara 6-4 before being knocked out in the semi- finals against Nationview 6- 5. "They were very close games. The team went into the tournament saying if they could win one game they'd be happy," said parent Connie Trotter. The provincial tournament was a first for the Seaforth Curling Club. Scoreboard SHUFFLEBOARD Mar.9 Ladles high: June Marlene 345, Thelma Preszcator 296, Grace Corbett 296.
