HUBLEY, Norman: In loving mem-
ory of a stepfather who passed
away 5 yrs. ago on March 16, 2000.
He had a loving nature and a heart
as pure as gold,
He always had a smiling face and a
story to be told,
A wonderful sense of humour and a
twinkle In his eye,
A helping hand in time of need on
that you could rely.
Maybe we can't touch his hand or
see his smiling face,
And maybe we can't hear his voice
or feel his warm embrace,
But something we will always have
tucked safely in our hearts,
Our love for him, his love for us, will
never let us part.

NASH: To our Angel • in Heaven,
Ginette Nash - March 20, 1994.
Beside your grave I often stand,
With 2 little girls at my side.
The questions they ask about you,
Make it difficult for the tears to hide.
They help me plant flowers and pick
out the weeds,
Their silence Is so sweet.
For a Grandma they never even
knew,
But someday hope to meet.
Sometimes I think It's so unfair,
Because you're not here to share in
their love.
But then I realize God had a differ-
ent plan,
Every child needs an Angel to
watch over them from above.
So Grandma, we're sending hugs
and kisses to you,
We do it every day.
Keep watch over us from Heaven
above,
And in our hearts you'll always stay.

County council
wonders about
bridges in Huron
By Tim Cumming
- — -- ------------------- ----
GoderichStar Editor
Should Huron County
maintain responsibility for
all the county's bridges or
are some bridges better left
in the hands of municipal
councils to decide their
fate?
Bernie MacLellan (Huron
East) wondered if the pro-
posal was simply a county
attempt to download cost
and responsibility to the
lower tier.
"We don't like it when
the province does it to us,
why are we doing it to the
lower'tiers?" he asked.
County council discussed
a recommendation that
some low-volume bridges,
that are not near county
roads, should be given to
local municipalities.
The cost of maintaining
some of those bridges in the
future may be prohibitive,
said engineering technolo-
gist Mike Alcock.
Past Warden Bill Dowson
(Bluewater) spoke against
the recommendation as it
stood.
"I have to strongly speak
against this until some
homework is done," he
said.
Coun. Rob Morley (South
Huron) said county council-
lors need more information
on which bridges were
being considered for trans-
fer.
Coun. Ken Oke (South
Huron) spoke strongly
'against the transfer of
bridges, saying the county
had the expertise for
bridges and if the county
wasn't prepared to keep
that responsibility they
could download everything.
"If we don't want to take
responsibility let's take the
whole works (and give it
up)," he said. "It looks to
me (like) a straight down-
load."
MacLellan said "I would
like to see an actual list and
location" of the bridges. He
said there should also be
estimates of when the
bridges would need repair
and how much that might
cost.
Coun. Ben Van
Diepenbeek (Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh) said
the recommendation was
not for all bridges, only
those in the middle of a
township.
"I think we need discus-
sion ... I think we've had a
good discussion but we
need more information,
that's pretty obvious," he
said.
County council defeated
the motion to accept the
transfer of bridges.
