Joan Lubbers, who wrote to council two weeks ago about an excessive amount of cat droppings on her Main Street property, reiterated that she's "at the end of my rope" over the situation. "I've talked to other residents in your area and you are not alone. There are a lot of irresponsible cat owners just letting their cats roam." said Grey Coun. Mark Beaven. Beaven, added however. that he is not in favour of a cat bylaw after talking to other municipalities. "This is going to cost like you wouldn't believe. When I asked other municipalities about creating a cat bylaw, the initial response was, 'Are you guys nuts?' said Beaven. Seaforth Coun. Joe Sterner asked if a cat bylaw could be enacted just for the urban areas of Huron East since it wouldn't be fair to farmers to ask them to pay for cat tags. Clerk - Administrator J a c k McLachlan repeated that while the municipality can tag cats, "most municipalities that got into it wish they hadn't." McLachlan said he did a survey of Huron County municipalities and got a copy of a Goderich bylaw restricting the number of cats allowed per household. Mayor Joe Seili added that while there are responsible cat owners. many won't claim a cat once the need to tag it is involved. "When you put a tag on a cat. you'd be surprised how many people don't own cats." he said. —11111311E - `When you put a tag on a cat, you'd be surprised how many people don't own cats,'— Huron East Mayor Joe Sella Maniac Days. On Tuesday, children will have an opportunity to participate in Easter Extreme which costs $13 per child. On Wednesday, Huron East's three recreation facilities partnered to give children a chance to go snow tubing in St. Marys which costs $35 a child. On Thursday, children can participate in St. Patrick's Day Kids' Style which costs $13. Monday to Friday, children will have an opportunity to go swimming from I:30. to 3:30 p.m. ESTHETICS BY BONNIE Bonnie Johnston • g CCI`ifica e • manicure- • icor" • cials • waxing • make-up 92 West William tat 9.vbM,ONNON IWO 527-171 McTaggart Wettlaufer INSURANCE BROILERS INC. • AUTO ' HOME .
