January was a busy
month for the Huron
Hurricanes with three
swim meets.
Huron Hurricanes'
swimmers posted excellent
results at " meets in
Ingersoll, Oakville and
London.
The Ingersoll Speed
Sharks hosted seven teams
from southwestern Ontario
on Jan. 7 and 8.
Katelyn Riley, of
Seaforth, competing in the
girls' 10 and under
category had times of
44.01 for 50 freestyle,
51.03 for 50 backstroke,
1.00.06 for 50 breaststroke
and 57.07 for 50 butterfly.
The Oakville Aquatic
Club held a meet on Jan.
21-23 for 11 clubs in the
area and Katelyn Riley, of
Seaforth, competing in the
girls' 10 and under
category, posted times
1:24.94 in 100 freestyle,
49.72 in 50 backstroke and
59.73 in 50 breaststroke

On Jan. 28-30, the
Western Ontario Regional
Championships were held
at the London Aquatic
Centre, for swimmers with
qualifying times.
Katelyn Riley of
Seaforth attended the
meet. Riley's time in 50.
breaststroke was 57:66.
Rebecca Melady, of the
Seaforth area competed in
the girls' 15 and over 100 -
metre freestyle with a
time of 1:11.31, in the
800 -metre freestyle with a
time of 1:26.49, the 200-
metre.backstroke with a
time of 2:59.44 and the
200 -metre breaststroke
with a time of 3:23.29.
