"It's quite exciting. This is the start of it all," says developer Bill MacLean. MacLean says work will continue all winter on the roads and water and sewer lines of the development. As well, three model homes will start being built at the end of February or beginning of March. One will serve as a sales office while the other two will become finished homes. Because holes of the Seaforth Golf Club are in the process of beilig moved, MacLean says the development's recreation centre will. not begin being built until summer, possibly July. MacLean said recently that 13 homes have been sold so far, closing in on Sewage and water pipes were on hand at the scene as earth -moving equipment began preparing for road construction and servicing to the 248 -home Bridges of Seaforth adult community. a first-year target of 20 homes. "To sell 13 homes without any roads or model homes to show yet is quite outstanding," he said recently. The 13 who are buying homes come from Exeter, London, Kitchener and Toronto. As well, 40 to 50 couples have told the Bridges' sales office they want to be called in the spring when the model homes are built and can be viewed. After eight years in Goderich, the community mental health service is leaving Goderich because of renovations being done at the Goderich hospital. "They had to take our room away in Goderich and gave us a closet. Seaforth gave us a room and it's wonderful - a large office that's hehven on earth," says Ruth Beckman, program director of mental health services, Perth. Established in 1998, the crisis intervention program is one of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance's community health programs and provides a 24-hour crisis line for Huron and Perth residents along with six to eight-week crisis counselling. The program recently received increased funding to enhance the crisis counselling with one additional staff person who should be hired by the end of March, says Beckman. "It should ease the burden on local psychiatrists," she says. The Seaforth office will be staffed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday. Beckman says the Alliance board was very responsive to the crisis intervention program's need for a larger office space. "We got approval in a week for free space," she says. A press release from the Alliance quotes SCH site leader Mary Cardinal welcoming the program to Seaforth. "This enhances the services provided here and ensures continued timely access for the residents of Huron County," says Cardinal in the press release.
