Queensway to host talent show
on Jan. 30 with choir performing
Queensway's volunteer
auxiliary met Tuesday
morning to preview January
events and offer their help
wherever it's needed. Most
of these wonderful women
volunteer in many other
areas of their community as
well as at Queensway so
meeting the first Tuesday of
each month is important in
i order for them to co-ordinate
and organize their busy
schedules.
Residents had a very busy
month of December and
many voiced their
appreciation that family
members made it a priority
to join them for the special
events and entertainment.
Shirley Luther of the
Salvation Army with her
husband Eric as volunteer
pianist, led worship for
residents Tuesday afternoon,
bringing a good message to
start off 2005.
In the evening, residents
Queensway Nursing 1loni&
enjoyed the sacred music of
"The Gospel Singers" of
Exeter and area. These
singers present a monthly
program for residents
throughout the fall and
winter.
Family Council meeting
facilitated by social worker
Julie Keagan met Wednesday
afternoon with a good
turnout of family members.
Residents gathered for
Coffee and Current events
Thursday morning and lots
of discussion took place over
the weekly and daily papers
with everyone encouraged to
voice their opinions on the
various news items.
Andy and Friends provided
their usual terrific
entertainment for a good
crowd in the Retirement
Home Lounge at the
Friendship Friday program.
Volunteer Edna Dietz was on
hand to assist residents and
help serve refreshments.
Queensway residents held
their first choir practice
recently with Belva Fuss as
volunteer pianist. Their first
performance will be at
Queensway talent show
Sunday, Jan. 30 with an
appearance in March at the
Exeter Dining for Seniors
and in , April at Clinton
Dining for Seniors. Choir
members are looking forward
to these upcoming bookings.
Lori Burt R.M.T. provided
therapeutic massage to
several residents throughout
the day.
Tuesday morning
volunteer Kay Mock assisted
at the always popular
breakfast group program.
Residents feasted on stacks
of fluffy pancakes smothered
in syrup along with sausages,
melon, orange juice and lots
of piping hot tea and coffee.
Everyone lingered over
second helpings amid
stimulating conversation on
numerous topics.
Pastor Elly Van Bergen led
worship Tuesday afternoon
with a message on "Gentle
Justice Through Jesus."
Belva Fuss was volunteer
pianist.
Fun and Fitness started the
day for residents Wednesday
morning as it does three
mornings a week. Following
the exercise routine, word
games and quizzes were
played to stimulate ,cognitive
function.
Last week ended on a
relaxing note Friday with
several ladies benefiting
from hand soaks, manicures
and massage. One even
received a pedicure.
Residents enjoy Hat Day at Seaforth Manor
Six people from the
Seaforth Manor Retirement
Home went to Blyth for
lunch at the Grandview
Restaurant last Monday.
Mary McClure even saw
some friends she knew that
were there. Bev Johnston
enjoyed her first outing
with us. Sam enjoyed the
sundae, which was finger
licking good.
We went for drive
afterwards. It w s a great
day. We look forward to
the trip to Rubeggers in
Etliel, next month.
Everyone enjoyed Hat
Day in our home on
Wednesday. We had some
pretty fancy hats go
around. Wilfred especially
looked great with his
cowboy hat from Australia.
We had a draw for prizes
