As one of the leading
scorers in the German Elite
Hockey League right now,
Seaforth's Dave McLlwain is
having one of his best years
yet with the Kolner Haie (or

"It's going pretty good.
Most of my shots have been

McLlwain modestly during a
telephone interview from his
home in Germany.
Ontario's first minimum

After three more snow
days last week have upped
the total to eight at both St.
James and Seaforth Public
School, both systems are
beginning to look at the
impact on students.
"The number of snow days
is being discussed at the
central office and there's
already been a request for
feedback from the schools,"
said Steve Howe, media
relations officer for the Avon
Maitland District School
Board.
"The scary thing," he said
Friday, "is that it's still only
January. We still have
potentially two more months
of winter weather to deal
with."
Introducing a one -cent tax

CFA President Ron

In her first ever pentathlon

of one-time federal funding
announced recently for five
Huron County daycares.
Seaforth will receive
$33,600 of the $44,300
distributed to Huron County
for repairs, maintenance,
agreed Huron County council

With a first draft budget
showing a 12 per cent tax
increase, Huron East
councillors talked at their
Feb. 10 meeting about how to
decrease that increase to five
per cent.
Cutting $135,000 from the
budget will bring 2004's
budget down to five per cent,
said Deputy -Clerk Brad
Knight, who presented ideas
about how to cut $139,000.
But, since the 2003 deficit
of $275,000 was not included
in the calculations, Mayor
Joe Seili asked councillors to
come up with further savings.
A group of Seaforth

It was a successful
afternoon for organizers and

While the Community
Care Access Centre offers
most of its services through
home visits, executive
director Kathy Scanlon says
the CCAC's new building in
Seaforth will give the centre
more visibility in the
community.
CCAC's 40 employees
moved last week into the new
building, which was built by
the Seaforth community
development trust behind the
Seaforth Medical Clinic.
Compliments came
through the front doors along
with the children as the
Seaforth Cooperative
Children's Centre opened for
business Monday at its new
location on Chalk Street.
"Everybody was very
excited when they came in.
They couldn't believe the
size, the light and the
brightness of the new
building," says director
Sandra Jansen.
During the year-long
project to build a new centre,
SCCC raised $165,000 but
because all the bills have not
yet been received, the final
costs of the building are not
yet known, says SCCC
president Lauren
Rooyakkers.
Despite some concerns that
not enough money has been
raised locally yet to fund a

Seaforth is back down to
six doctors after Dr. Vince
Tong left the Seaforth

When Brett Lee bought a
