Queensway residents rock n' rollick
to polka music at Oktoberfest party
Gladys and The
Merrymakers with their

music kept the dance floor
full Saturday, Oct. 23 at
Queensway's Octoberfest
Party. Empty wheelchairs
attested to the power of music
to motivate people to move.
Fun and Fitness started the
week off with residents
working their way through
the exercise routine followed
by games geared to promote
mental function.
In the afternoon, Hensall
United Church Women
Queensway Nursing Home
provided assistance and prizes
for bingo.
Breakfast group gathered
Tuesday morning to enjoy
eggs. sausage. toast, melons
and tea and coffee. Auxiliary
Volunteer Betty Simmons
assisted as everyone lingered
over their meal enjoying their
eggs made to order and the
lively conversation.
In the afternoon, Rev. Don
Alcock of the Bayfield
Anglican Church led worship.
Belva Fuss was volunteer
pianist and Marg Cole
assisted residents. Pastor Elly
Van Bergen was also in
Tuesday as usual to provide
pastoral visitation and
support.
Wednesday afternoon
euchre players gathered for
several rousing games,
facilitated by volunteer Marg
Cole, Impromptu games
happen almost every day but
on Wednesdays both
Retirement Home and
Nursing Home residents get
together to enjoy the
competition.
Coffee and current events
Thursday morning provided a
forum for discussion of
newsworthy events, complete
with the residents' take on
them.
Throughout the week
residents also benefitted from
manicures, visitation. music
therapy, massage with Lori
RMT and art group.
Seaforth Manor residents prepare for
second annual bazaar later this month
Residents of Seaforth
Manor Retirement Home
have been very busy getting
ready for their second annual
bazaar on Nov. 27.
They have made cookies in
a jar, signs, wooden flowers,
Christmas gift bags, knitted
dishcloths and much more.
Gerald Ross and Boyd are
our famous painters. Tasia
and Alice are our gift bag
ladies and Marjorie is our
dish cloth knitter. There are
so many of our residents that
have been taking part in this
and having fun while doing
it.
Marg and Hazel are just a
couple of our residents that
have enjoyed the fall drives
Seaforth Manor Retirement Home
to see the colours. The red
leaves are really out this year.
Our chili cook off went
very well. Our residents
entered a pot of chili and got
fourth in the taste test.
Dianne Muir was the first
prize winner out of eight
entries.
Residents enjoyed a
Thanksgiving dinner that was
delicious. Turkey with all the
trimmings.
Diner's Club was
wonderful. with 14 guests
from the community.
Everyone enjoyed the great
meal.
Afterwards we kicked up
our heels to the music of the
Staffa Old Time Band. Fern
McClure and Antje Veldhuis
were the winners of the door
prizes.
We continue to go to the
dining for seniors in Seaforth,
Clinton, Blyth and Brussels.
Terri Murray was a lucky
winner of a door prize at the
Clinton Diners.
Boyd enjoyed sitting beside
Bill Cudmore and chatting
about old times. Tem Murray
had a visit with Dave Kemp.
Over 85 people gathered for last
month's Dining Out program
Town and Country
Support Services held
their monthly Seaforth
and Area Dining Out
program at the Seaforth arena
on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at
noon.
Over 85 people gathered
together to celebrate
Thanksgiving. Opening
remarks were given by Diane
Weber, cdmmunity support
coordinator from the
Wingham office to introduce
Kara -Lee Potter, community
support coordinator who is
replacing Tammy Antaya.
Dining Out
Tammy has worked for Town
and Country Support
Services and has done a
wonderful job.
Rev. Huberts from the First
Presbyterian Church in
Seaforth opened with prayer.
Everyone enjoyed the
festive turkey and all of its
trimmings followed by
traditional pumpkin pie.
Rev. Huberts gave a special
Thanksgiving message
followed by music from the
Huron Strings.
Door prizes were
won by Betty Hulley,
Laura Eggert, Lloyd
Mitchell, Terry Murray, Mary
Rowcliffe and Dick Gray.
Share the Wealth winners
were Wilma Pennings, Bill
Flynn, Rose Ryan, Dorothy
Papple, Anna McNichol and
Joyce Wallace.
Our next Seaforth and Area
Dining Out program will be
Thursday, Nov. 18 at noon.
Cost is $8. Come out and join
us. Please R.S.V.P. to 482-
9264 by the Monday prior.
Every other month is a Foot
Care Day, with Margaret Lee
and Irene Gettler. Their fees
will be increasing in the New
year to $13.
We headed to the Berry
Cafe in Bayfield on Oct. 18.
The weather was rainy and
cool but we had a great time
just the same.
Boyd, Hazel, Marg, Sam,
Alice and Dorothy had a
great view of the Bayfield
area. The leaves were
beautiful and the water at the
beach was rough. What a
windy day.
We look forward to the trip
to Stratford on Nov. 4.
