There will be no parade to the church (Presbyterian) this year. Instead, we will all meet at the church and file in an orderly fashion with the colours for an 11:15 a.m. service Nov. 7. Afterwards, we will return to the branch for a light lunch followed by our annual poppy drive which will start at 1 p.m. Let's have a good turnout as many hands make for less work. As well, the Remembrance banquet this year will be held on Nov. 13. Tickets are at the bar. We hope you have a Safe and Happy Halloween! Seaforth Legion to the cenotaph at 10:40 a.m. for the service and wreath laying. Legion dress looks good on parade but if you don't have it, your presence is all we need. This is your invitation. On Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. a few of us with the colours will attend a Remembrance service at the Clinton High School along with the Clinton branch. At 1 p.m. we will be at Maplewood Manor, then the Seaforth Manor at 2 p.m. If any members would like to join us, feel free. Nov. 18, the Zone Commander will be at the branch for the annual visit and inspection. Let's have a good turnout for this general meeting. Zone bowling will be held in Lucknow on Nov. 13. Deadline is Nov. 1. Zone curling will be held in Wingham on Nov. 27. Deadline is Nov. 12. The branch children's Christmas party is on Dec. 12 this year. More details later. At the general meeting a discussion will be held about the smoking by-law and what our options are. A committee was formed to investigate these options. We have lost some business and it will get worse as the weather gets colder. A get well from the branch to all who found themselves in hospital. Hello from all to our shut- ins at home or in the Manor or Maplewood. The branch was saddened to hear of .the passing of Ralph McFadden and Rod Doig. To their families our sincere condolences. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them. by Errol Skillender St. Patrick's gets ready for Mother - Daughter Potluck dinner on Nov. 11 Mr. and Mrs. Richard Templeman and family, Jean Ryan and Maureen Lang and girls went to Rim Park, Waterloo, to see Jordan and Allexan Templeman play hockey. Mr. and Mrs. Alan French also visited with them. Hensall Legion prepares for door to door Poppy sale The Hensall shuffleboard scores for Oct. 19 are as follows: Hensall Dave Woodward 541, Cor DeCorte 459, Edna Deitz 441, Lorraine Alexander 426, Art Scott 391, Hank Dorssers 371, Helen Scott 340, Merle McLellan 336. The date for the Hensall Legion Door -To -Door Poppy Canvass is Monday Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m., conducted by Legion members and local cadets. The people of Hensall will be happy to hear that the leaf blower is up and running. Leaves can be raked to the curb on Friday Oct. 29 and Saturday Oct. 30. Volunteers will be on the job. There is no fee for the service but donations are welcome. Winners of the Hensall and Community Horticultural Society Thanksgiving Decorating Contest in the residential category are Dana Philips, Mary Forrest, and Don and Ruthanne Smale. Winners in the business category are Joyce McBeath and Bill Gibson. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Tracy Whitson-Bahro was the minister with . Joyce Pepper playing the organ. The offering was received by Harry Smith. Thursday, Oct. 28 is the soup, salad and dessert luncheon. Everyone is welcome and no ticket is required. Oct. 29 will be craft night from 7 to 8;30 p.m. marking the Year of the Child. This is an Optimist Project. At Hensall United Church Mona Alderdice was the greeter for this special service. Bill Gibson was the organist with Judy and Kay Mock receiving the offering. Les Hills lit the Christ Candle and also read the Scripture Lesson. Pastor Fred Darke's message was "How is your vision?" Ocean Christine Lothian, daughter of Fraser and Sue Lothian, and Robyn Paige Kyle Northcott, daughter of David and Shannon Northcott, received the rites of baptism from Pastor Darke. Remembrance Day Service will take place at Hensall United Church on Nov. 7. By Liz Sangster . Queensway residents celebrate Oktoberfest Gladys Anglican and The Church 1 e d worship. Belva Fuss was volunteer pianist and Marg Cole assisted residents. Pastor Elly Van Bergen was also in Tuesday as usual to provide pastoral visitation and support. Wednesday afternoon euchre players gathered for several rousing games, facilitated by volunteer Marg Cole, Impromptu games happen almost every day but on Wednesdays both Retirement Home and Nursing Home residents get together to enjoy the competition. Coffee and current events Thursday morning provided a forum for discussion of newsworthy events, complete with the residents' take on them. Throughout the week residents also benefitted from manicures, visitation, music therapy, massage with Lori RMT and art group. Queensway Nursing Home Merrymakers with their rollicking Oktoberfest polka music kept the dance floor full Saturday, Oct. 23 at Queensway's Oktoberfest Party. Empty wheelchairs attested to the power of music to motivate people to move. Fun and Fitness started the week off with residents working their way through the exercise routine followed by games geared to promote mental function. In the afternoon, Hensall United Church Women provided assistance and prizes for bingo. Breakfast group gathered Tuesday morning to enjoy eggs, sausage, toast, melons and tea and coffee. Auxiliary Volunteer Betty Simmons assisted as everyone lingered over their meal enjoying their eggs made to order and the lively conversation. In the afternoon, Rev. Don Alcock of the Bayfield
