The Seaforth Public School boys' team placed second in the tournament which was played at Huron Centennial, School in Brucefield. The junior girls team from Seaforth Public School placed third in the tournament. Hurricanes begin new season With over 60 swimmers, the Huron Hurricane Aquatic Club is off to a fast start. New members in both the novice and senior age groups have joined the competitive section of the swim club. Another section, The Huron Storm have returning members as well as many new registrants. The Storm have two groups who swim twice a week at the YMCA Centre in Goderich. The Triathlon Club, with new registrants, trains at both the Vanastra Recreation Centre and the Goderich Y. The I Can Swim Program at both Vanastra Recreation Centre and Goderich Y is busy with about 25 young beginning swimmers registered in the 10 week long program. The senior competitive swimmers of the Huron Hurricanes kicked off their season with a potluck dinner on Sept. 17. With coach Julia Pettapiece, the swimmers set personal and team goals and expectations for training. On Oct. 9, the Hurricanes will attend their first swim meet of the season at Simcoe, to kick off the short course season. On Sunday, Oct. 24, the Huron Hurricanes Aquatic Club.will host their own swim meet, the first meet held at the Goderich Y. Port Elgin and Simcoe Aquatic Clubs will join the host club the Huron Hurricanes to provide an action packed day of swimming. St. James student breaks cross country record set six years ago By Jason Middleton Expositor Stuff A St. James Grade 8 student Ryan O'Reilly, 13. broke a record a at .a cross country meet at St. Mike's School in Stratford recently. In the 13 and over 2.8 km race, O'Reilly heat the previous record 10 minutes and 57 seconds set in 1996 with a time of 10 minutes and 55 seconds. O'Reilly said that during the racc he was competing against 60 runners. Cross country coach Todd Chisholm said that O'Reilly's performance during the run was amazing. "It was outstanding and amazing." said St. James cross country coach Todd Chisholm. O'Reilly's next race will he at Wildwood on Oct. 14. when he competes against Seaforth teen heading to WOSSA golf tournament Brad Henderson, of Seaforth, will be competing in thc WOSSA golf tournament on Oct. 14 after coming third in the Huron - Perth high school championships in Goderich at Sunset Golf Course last Thursday. "I played decent but it could always be better," he said last week of his performance representing St. Anne's Secondary School. Henderson also won several awards at the Seaforth Golf Club this summer. including thc junior club championship, the junior match play and the junior invitational tournament. Seaforth Public School came first in regional cross country meet Seaforth Public School came first in a regional cross country meet at Hullett Central School in Londesboro recently. The school's individual teams which came first include the midget boys, the junior girls, the junior boys, the senior boys and the senior girls. Individual runners who received medals include Paul Doig, who came first in the midget hoys, Nicole McIntosh, who came first in thc junior girls, Jon Shepherd, who came first in the junior hoys, Tabitha Arts, who came second in the midget girls, Kaitlin Arts, who came second in thc junior girls, Ben Shepherd, who came second in thc senior hoys, Mackenzie Mclady, who came third in the novice girls and Tyler Marion, who came third in thc senior boys. Seaforth was one of two schools that had a full roster of 60 runners.
