That was 'the message Tuesday night by Laurel Armstrong at the well - attended Huron Small Business Enterprise Centre - sponsored dinner meeting in Holmesville. She suggests that by meeting regularly with a group of people, business owners and managers get the chance to multi track as well as meet new contacts and swap ideas ABCA offers fall car tour of Bayfield River countryside The countryside of the Bayfield River watershed will be featured during a fall colour car tour, offered by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority on Sunday, Oct. 17. After registering between 1-2 p.m. at the gazebo in Clan Gregor Square, just off of Highway #21 in Bayfield, participants will receive a tour package detailing the route to be taken as they explore the Bayfield River watershed from the mouth in Bayfield to the source in Dublin. Along the way, participants will visit the Bayfield Berry Farm for a complimentary coffee, Bannockburn Wildlife Area, Clinton Conservation Area, local land stewardship projects and all points in between. The tour is approximately 150 kilometres and will end in Clinton at the Dinner Bell Restaurant. At each stop, participants will be given a piece to a puzzle that they will have to unscramble for prizes at the final destination. Nature oriented demonstrations and activities will be held at each conservation area. This car tour is a unique way to explore your own backyard and it is the hope of the ABCA that this will become a popular fall family tradition, says Erin Dolmage, ABCA Conservation Education Specialist. There is a minimal charge of $5 per carload for the event to cover tour package costs. Donations are always welcome to support the preservation of our natural areas. Armstrong shared an anecdote about a class she took at the Southampton School of Art. She says working alongside other women, who worked in a variety of fields, proved inspiring. 1 was the neophyte, 1 was the tentative one, she says. By the third day. 1 lost the fear. Armstrong says the class managed to create impressive prints by focusing on their passion. How do you transfer that passion to a business setting'? says Armstrong. That is something we need to celebrate and to explore further. The worst thing to do, says Armstrong, is to remain isolated. When you arc in a group, there s a collective cncrgy that occurs, she says, adding it is also important to read as much as possible, including old business -based books and current magazines. What you want to do is broaden the horizons, she says. When you think about creativity, you want to think about divergence. Armstrong further recommends using notebooks, tape recorders and even answering machines to keep track of ideas as they form. The meeting also featured an ongoing session wherein draw prize winners were challenged to give a one -minute synopsis about their respective businesses or careers. At night s end, the first person to recall what all six randomly chosen women did for a living won the grand prize. The first person facing the challenge successfully completed the task. i Pinery Antique Flea Market Indoor - Outdoor 38th Season III., :ss til \I) s :1111 i)nl NI/11'til THANKSGIVING $1.00 Admission.
