Two Huron County plowmen
win scholarships at Grey IPM
Steven Haney, 16, son of
Matt and Elaine Haney, and
Tyson Arts, 16, son of John
and Hilrita Arts, each were
awarded a two—year $3,000
scholarship to an Ontario
University or College of
Technology of their choice at
the recent Grey County
International Plowing Match
and Rural Expo held Sept. 22
to 26 near Meaford.
Both young men are from
RR 4 Seaforth. They
competed for three days in a
class that did not allow
coaching.
There were 14 plowpersons
from across the province in
their division — tractor with a
two -furrow competition plow.
It was so sandy up there
which made it easier to plow,
said Haney. They were all
great plowers — it was kinda
tough.
A total of 11 young Huron
plowpersons have now earned
this award over the years.
Along with Steven and
Tyson, several other Huron
and local plowpersons
competed this past week.
They were: Paul Dodds, RR 1
Seaforth; Paul Pentland,
Goderich; Steven 0 Rourke,
Dublin; Ian Gordon, Bayfield;
Bill Feeney Jr., Staffa; Shawn
Flanagan, Burlington;
Brandon McGavin, RR 4
Walton and Jim Cartwright
