Horticultural Society holding fall plant auction

At Hensall United Church Pastor Fred Darke's message was

Bill Gibson was the organist with Kay Mock reading the
Scripture lesson.
The greeter was Jeanette Turner with Lillian Beer and Betty
Simmons as the ushers. Nursery attendants were Maggie
Jinks and Barb Westlake -Powers.
On Sept. 21 Hensall United Church is hosting it Coffee
Break in support of the Alzheimers Society from 9:30 to I I

Seaforth's Tyler Doig has
signed with the defending
OHL champion team, the
Guelph Storni.
Doig, who played a game
with the Barrie Colts last
season, finished as second
highest scorer with the St.
Marys Lincolns last season
with 39 points in 41 games.
In Guelph, he'll be playing
against former teammates
from the Huron Perth Lakers.
which he played with in
2002.
Guelph's home opener
game is Sept. 26 at 3 p.m.

Hensall United Church at 6:30 pm. The $25 fee includes
dessert.
The Hensall and Community Horticultural Society fall plant
auction with auctioneer Pirie Mitchell and Erik Jacobson from
Parkway Gardens in London will be held Thursday at 7:15
p.m.
Members will share their plants and Erik will bring new
and unusual plants from his gardens and also answer
questions.

St. Columban residents travel to B.C.
to visit relatives and attend funeral
Marie Hicknell has
returned from a visit to her
sister, Ruth Marx, in Dekka
Lake, B.C.
Travelling with her were
her brother, Keith Manley of
Stratford, her sister, Pat
C'orman, of Waterloo. as
well as Ruth's son, Charlie
McDonnell. of Grand Bend.

They attended the funeral
of their brother-in-law,
Werner Marx, husband of
their sister, Ruth Marx, and
spent some time visiting
there.

School haveelected their
student council for the
coming year. The prime
minister is Melissa Ryan;
deputy prime minister is
Jamie Deloyer; treasurer is
Kelsey Flanagan; and
Legion asks for better
attendance at meetings

Reduce the Risk of West Nile Virus
As the days get shorter and cooler, mosquitoes
are still present and precautions are necessary.
How to prevent mosquitoes bites:
• Take precautions outdoors, especially in early morning and early
evening, when mosquitoes are most active.
• Wear light-coloured clothing and cover up whenever possible.
• Use insect repellent containing 10% DEET or Tess.
What is the County doing?
The County of Huron has a West Nile Virus Advisory Committee
and a program to monitor birds and mosquitoes for West Nile
Virus.
What can you do?
• Stay informed about West Nile Virus.
• Report sightings of dead crows and blue jays to the Health Unit.
• Drain the rain on your home, cottage and business property.
