The church is slated to be closed and the parish suppressed by Pentecost (May) of 2005. Several decisions will have to be made including the dispersal of the church building and chattels, the fate of the St. Columban soccer fields, the fate of both the present St. Columban Cemetery and the old cemetery, as well as several other issues. In spite of the valiant efforts of the parishioners over the past seven years to keep the small but vibrant faith community alive, including recent meetings with the Deanery Implementation Team, the decision of suppression has been announced, and there seems to be no hope for the future of the community.
