News More than 15o people help Lions Club celebrate Both anniversary By Jason Middleton Expositor Staff Seaforth carte out on Sunday afternoon to wish the Seaforth Lions Club a happy 80th birthday. Despite Tess than ideal con- ditions more than 150 people helped celebrate their anniversary, which featured music by Dave Hoy, a magi- cian, clowns snaking balloons and face painting, children's activities and hotdogs and pop at 1924 prices. "We were very pleased con- sidering the weather which I'm sure caused a lot of peo- ple not to attend," -says Seaforth Lions chair Cathy Elliott. The club decided to host this aniversary party and have it open to the public because Seaforth is important to them. An 80th anniversary is "quite a landmark" according to Elliott, because some serv- ice clubs fold before that anniversary. She explained that the Seaforth Lions are now in the midst of a membership drive. "We are going to he approaching people who we think might he interested who are civic -minded like we are and like to have a good time while helping out their com- munity." says Elliott.
