Alan Hawphorne, a judge, demonstrated several techniques used in the clipping of calves. Brian Coghlin, a retired classifier, showed us how to place a class of cows; we then 4-H Report judged a class on our own. He then gave his placings and reasons for the class. The next thing on our agenda was to give our reasons for our placings for the class of cows. Alan Hawphorne showed us what to do in a showmanship class, including using the correct speed to lead your calf Community Calendar WED. We next judged a class of socks (yes, socks), to help prep= us for the Huron Judging Competition. We needed to give our reasons for placements in this 38 Auction Sale class as well. Kora Bennet and Jess Edgeworth judged us in a showmanship class; this was also to give us practice for the next show which will be held on our Achievement Day in Bayfield, Aug. 21.
