Eloping Toronto couple calls
Seaforth `Ontario's little secret'
Front Pogo 1
request.
"Here at Peggoty's we like to do the little
things to make everyone's stay special," she
explained. "In this case we really didn't have to
do that much though, because Karen had nearly
everything taken care of."
From there, everything fell into place. And
on Saturday, July 23, the couple found
themselves taking their vows in the side garden
of the Main Street bed and breakfast.
Lori Siska, of London-based Romantic
Wedding Ceremonies officated the ceremony,
which featured a special handfasting ceremony.
Beverly and Kindah served as witnesses.
And even though the intimate ceremony wa's
interrupted by a convoy of motorcycles, Karen
said she wouldn't change a thing.
"Beverly and Kindah made everything very
special. They added special little touches
without being intrusive, making a very
romantic and memorable day," she said.
"The ceremony was more than what had
hoped and believe it or not, the motorcycles
were one of the nicest things because we realized
life is all about - it's not perfect.
"Actually if I had to do it again I'd order the motorcycles,"
Karen laughed.
"Nope, n
However
of going to do this again," Rollin interjected.
, the couple said they definitely are planning a
return visit to Seaforth.
Calling it "Ontario's little secret," the couple
said Seaforth was a great place to stay because
of its small town nature and proximity to
London and Stratford.
"It really is beautiful. My expectations were
low, because I didn't want to be disappointed,
but it was everything we had hoped for and
more," Karen commented. "We go to Stratford a
bit and find it's very commercial. You go there
to get away and go to the theatre. But this is just
as nice and you can easily drive into Stratford
fora play."
With a great experience behind them, Kindah
said she's looking forward to creating "intimate"
wedding packages at Peggoty's for future
guests.
"It was the first wedding we've ever had here
and it went really well," she commented. "It's
an aspect of the business that we never really
thought of, but are now adding to our services."
Kindah said she hopes to offer a variety of
packages, which could accommodate the bride
families and involve local wedding -related

Huron County's 11 daycare centres
can apply dor provincial assistance
From Pogo 1
"We are delivering real, positive change for parents and
young children by stabilizing the regulated child care system
and increasing access to high quality child care," said Mitchell
in her press release.
Huron County's 11 daycare centres can apply to benefit
from three separate grant packages for subsidized new spaces,
health and safety improvements and minor capital
improvements.
The first amount includes $119,000 for Huron County,
which must be split 80-20 between the province and the
county, to stabilize and expand regular childcare to children
under six and can go towards fee subsidies, wage subsidies or
special needs resources.
"The programs eligible will be those who can increase
spaces," says McDonagh, adding that all daycare centres in
Huron, except Exeter's, are already receiving the province's
maximum wage subsidy.
But, because Seaforth Cooperative Children's Centre
increased its number of daycare spaces by five when it opened
its new building this summer, McDonagh says SCCC may be
able to convince the province to revise its criteria for wage
subsidy and be able to benefit from some of the funding.
Health and Safety funding of $42,900 comes to Huron
County from a provincial pot of $18.8 million and local
daycare centres can apply for a portion.
As well, of the $19.4 million in one-time funding for minor
capital improvements to daycare centres, Huron County will
receive $45,700. Minor capital projects are described as
reopening rooms or adjusting room spaces, upgrading
playgrounds and washrooms, adding space and other minor
renovations that improve health and safety and meet licencing
standards.
Local daycares will also have to apply for the minor capital
improvement funding. How the funding will be divided
between local daycares will be known sometime in
September, says McDonagh.

Meeting
presents
arguments
for and
against
amalgamation
From Pogo 1
Sancton said, because
concerned citizens made it
a key election issue.
Also speaking at the
meeting was Jim Brown of
Ridgetown, a long-time
municipal politician who
now sits on the council of
the relatively new
municipality of Chatham -
Kent (C -K).
Brown set out to give the
attendees a list of pros and
cons of amalgamation, but
could find nothing in the
latter category except' that
his salary has increased
from less than $2,000 as a
town councillor to roughly
$22,000 as a member of C-
K council.
Though most in
attendance seemed to
support de -amalgamation,
one teenager asked if there
might be alternatives. She
asked if there wasn't a
way to regain some of
Hensall's lost services
without de -amalgamating.
Wise said the meeting
was the first of many about
the issue of de -
amalgamation.
