Doig, who has been golfing since the age of three, said she started golfing because her family owns their own golf course. "Everyone in our family golfs," she said, adding, "it is just how I was brought up." Doig's family owns the Seaforth Golf and Country Club. Doig said she started at age three because "that is when I could swing a club and keep concentrated." Her Aunt Carolanne, father Cameron and grandfaetier Ken helped Doig learn how to golf. "They still help me, my mom helps a lot too," she said. Doig said she likes golfing because "it is fun when you play really well and when you get better. When you play bad it is really frustrating, but you can't wait to get back at it and practice really hard to get your system back working." "I practice at our course," said Doig, adding she practices five days a week during the summer. "During school I practice at least three times because I am busy doing homework." Doig will be going into Gr. 7 at Seaforth Public school this coming September. e recent y parttctpate in a two day tournament at Sunset Golf Course in Goderich. The All Ontario Girl's Tournament was held by the Golf Association of Ontario. "I was in the Bantam girls section for 13 and under," s e sats. "I went to the tournament to see how well 1 could do against other people in Ontario," Doig said, adding. "I placed 12 out of 17 people." She played two rounds of golf. scoring 95 each time. first tournament she played in this year. "I will be registering for one in August at Sunset again in the Owen Sound District tournament and one at our course on Aug. 17," said Doig. has Twelve greens in play for tournament The Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club saw twelve greens in play on Sunday for their tournament. Lunch was included. First place for the day went to Harry and Shirley Jacobi of Lucknow with 3w +47. Second was Marjorie Leslie and Marilyn Lancaster of St. Marys 3 + 46 and third went to Don Bruetigan and Angie Ray of Hanover also with 3 wins. High two game winners were Jim nd Sandy Mills of Port Elgin with consolation prize going to Peter and Gloria McFalls of Exeter. During the afternoon rain delayed the game but bowlers braved the elements Seaforth Lawn Bowling to complete three games. Friday evening saw an open singles tournament at the greens at 7 p.m. Top scorer was Fred Tilley 3w+41+2. Second went to Rick Wood with 3+37. Third place was Diane March of Burlington. 4th Jack Muir. 5th Mike Underhill, Exeter and consolation went to Jean Bewley of Seaforth. Cake and ice cream were enjoyed by all. Bowling in Clinton on Wednesday, Lee Ryan and Carol Carter won second while a men's trebles rink skipped by Fred Tilley with Dennis Schmidt and Kevin Rumig placed fifth at Sarnia L.B. Club. Friday evening July 23 will again be a special events evening with barbecued hot dogs or hamburgs at 6 p.m. and bowling after. Tuesday evening July 27th will see George and Ruth Ribcy hosting the potluck supper at 6 p.m. and lawn howling and euchre in the club house after. Thursday, July. 22nd at 10 a.m. will he a ladies tournament at the greens, open to all ladies of the club.
