Seaforth girl started golfing at age three
By Hilary Long
Student reporter
Although Robyn Doig is
only 12, she has been
golfing for nine years.
Doig, who has been
golfing since the age of
three, said she started
golfing because her family
owns their own golf course.
"Everyone in our family
golfs," she said, adding, "it
is just how I was brought
up."
Doig's family owns the
Seaforth Golf and Country
Club.
Doig said she started at
age three because "that is
when I could swing a club
and keep concentrated."
Her Aunt Carolanne,
father Cameron and
grandfaetier Ken helped
Doig learn how to golf.
"They still help me, my
mom helps a lot too," she
said.
Doig said she likes golfing
because "it is fun when you
play really well and when
you get better. When you
play bad it is really
frustrating, but you can't
wait to get back at it and
practice really hard to get
your system back working."
"I practice at our course,"
said Doig, adding she
practices five days a week
during the summer.
"During school I practice
at least three times because I
am busy doing homework."
Doig will be going into
Gr. 7 at Seaforth Public
school this coming
September.
