Residents, staff attend Hawaiian night in Dashwood
Residents, support
workers and staff had a
wonderful time July 15
when they attended the
Community Living
Hawaiian night at
Dashwood Community
Centre. The meal was
delicious and Elvis
Impersonator, Dan Granger
did a great job •entertaining
the crowd.
Kippen United Church
women provided assistance
and prizes at Bingo
Monday afternoon for a
good turnout of residents.
Tuesday morning eight
residents dined family style
in the family dining room
enjoying eggs cooked to
order, peameal bacon, fruit,
toast and lots of tea, coffee
and juice. Tuesday

THOUGHT
FOR TODAY
The miles pass more
swiftly,
Taken in a joyous stride,
And all the world seems
brighter,
When friends walk by
your side.
Queensway Nursing Home
afternoon Pastor Elly Van
Bergen led worship with
Belva Fuss as volunteer
organist.
Friendly visitors Edna
Dietz and Iva Reid were in
Wednesday to visit and
take residents outdoors to
enjoy the courtyard and
fountain area or just for a
wheelchair ride in the fresh
air.
Coffee and current events
started the day Thursday as
the weekly and daily
papers were perused and
commented on by residents
over piping hot coffee.
Later in the day several
people were pampered with
handsoaks and fresh
manicures and nail polish.
A barbecue was held with
residents dining on juicy
hamburgs and hotdogs
which were served along
with salads. Residents
dined outdoors on the deck
and in the courtyard.
In the evening Harvey
Smith, Ray Cann, Don
Finkbeiner and Harold
Mills provided lively
musical entertainment at
Friendship Friday in the
Retirement Home Lounge
to end a very eventful
week.
Over twenty staff
recently completed the
refresher CPR course to
maintain their certification.
Staff benefit from a variety
of educational
opportunities offered each
month.
Two golf teams qualify for provincials
Last Saturday eight golfers
who qualified to play at
district, left for Fergus. Two of
the teams have qualified for
the provincials. They are
Kevin Bennett and Mike
Marion, who won the district
by 11 strokes. The team of Jim
Watson Jr. and Joe Aubin also
qualifies to go on. Nice
golfing, good luck. To the
other two teams you didn't
lose, you gained experience.
The executive held a
meeting on
Thursday,
July 15. We
will have to wait until the
September general meeting for
their report.
The parking lot dance is a
go, see the Moonlight
Madness flyer for details. The
dance is for all in the
community so get your tickets
early from the branch or Linda
Gridzak.

committee is
still working
on functions
for the ends of July and
August. Keep an eye out for
ads. There will be a fun night
Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. Lawn
bowling for all members and
bowls will be supplied. Wear
flat soled shoes. A bar-b-que
or corn roast to follow.
I've been reading the articles
of our past public relations
officers and in 1981 Gord
Scott was encouraging
members to visit our club
room and come to meetings.
So after 23 years of asking
maybe it's time for dinner
meetings?
A get well from the branch
to all who find themselves in
hospital. Hello from all to our
shut-ins at home or in the
Manor and Maplewood.
They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old.
