Queensway residents start
week off with fun, fitness
A good workout of fun and
fitness got the week off to a
fine start for Queensway
residents. The exercise
program is developed to be
done from a sitting position
and is about moving every
joint that will move, in order
to stay flexible. Mental
exercise in the form of games
and quizzes complete the
hour-long program. In the
afternoon, a large number of
residents participated in
bingo.
The volunteer auxiliary
members held their meeting
Tuesday morning and
discussed upcoming July
Queensway Nursing Home
events. We are in the process
of further developing our
friendly visiting program
with volunteers scheduled to
visit a specific group of
residents on set days. Shirley
Luther of the Salvation Army,
led worship Tuesday
afternoon with Belva Fuss as
volunteer organist.
Paula and her St. Johns
Therapy Dog, "Popcorn,"
visited their many friends at
Queensway Wednesday
morning. In the afternoon
volunteer Marg Cole
organized a number of euchre
games for the competitive
card players among us. A
couple of hours pass very
quickly when residents are
playing their favourite game.
Coffee and current events
group -met Thursday morning
and perused the daily and
weekly papers discussing the
many local happenings.
Senior Diners met in the
evening over a delicious. meal
and enjoyed some leisurely
visiting.
Residents tried their hand
at snaking Black Forest
cupcakes on F,riday
afternoon and after taste
testing thein, pronounced
them a definite success.
Retirement home residents
dined outdoors on
hamburgers and hotdogs with
salads for their noon meal on
Friday with volunteer Klaas
Van Wieren doing barbecue
duty.
Coming events: July 15,
bus trip to Community Living
Party in Dashwood, July 16,
7 p.m. Friendship Friday with
Harvey Smith and Friends.
Resident, staff barbecue
During
the month
of June, a
Resident
and Staff Appreciation Dinner
was held at Maplewood Manor
where we all joined together to
enjoy delicious barbecued steak.
A poem of appreciation was read
and special gifts were handed
out.
While we were all together, it
was the perfect time to present a
gift to Tabb Glanville, who will
be married in September.
To complete the festivities, a
lively afternoon of music with
Gladys Van Egmond, Keith
Tyndall and Elgin Nott was
enjoyed by all.
Special attention was given to
the ladies of Maplewood Manor
when Margaret Whitmore came
to give hand treatments and
nail care. They all looked
smashing when the morning
was over.

delivering sunflower seeds throughout
the village. If your home was missed,
please phone 262-2715.

these seeds so that they will make a
