It is such an honour to be here tonight and to be given the chance to deliver the goodbye address to the class ofe004. Four years ago, we entered the large do9rs of St. Anne's as frightened Grads 9s from three different counties. Little did we know that behind those doors waiting for us were many wonderful teachers with rather unique teaching skills: Mr. Symanyk's "The Science of Hockey" video tape, Mr. Thompson's and Mr. Grace's daring Mohawks..."mmmkay"!! Mr. Holton's revelation of his most embarrassing moments and Mrs. Scholten's sexual education classes. to the delight of her second, third an fourth born who are currently attending St. Anne's. to name only a few of the great memories. - There are so many more, however 1 only have three minutes. 1 hope i am not actually being timed. It was just last Sunday that many of us received the letters we wrote to ourselves in Grade 9, expressing our dreams for the future, our expectations of our high school years to come, our fears and our hopes. Many of us realized one very interesting discovery, throughout our years here we have definitely learned how to spell! My letter revealed a wish to be an "alcress," meaning an actress where as Amber -Leigh Durand hoped to become a "Theopist!" meaning a therapist. You've graduated! The one aspect that we can all admit to, as new Grade 9s, is the excitementabout having our own locker, or in our case sharing lockers for the first two years and everyday feeling puzzled as to how we would make all of our belongings fit. Many can agree stuffing homework, smelly gym clothes and' gross mouldy sandwiches was definitely a challenge. Even though we had the same lock for four years, there were days that some of us would battle with it, all the while muttering under our breath that someone must have switched locks just to be so funny, only to have the accused open it at the first try. The gift of knowledge is ///, HOURS---- Mon.-Wed. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Thurs., Fri. & Sat. 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday - CLOSED one of the greatest human attributes. Our four years here at St. Anne's filled with wonderful teaching have greatly expanded and broadened our minds. A project that seemed impossible to complete in Grade 9, would have seemed like a treat if it had been given during our Grade 12 year. That is how the cycle runs, as we advance to the next grade, our academic skills advance with us. We have accomplished all of the difficult tasks that were expected of us. which at times seemed hopeless, and have made it, made it to our high school graduation. It is not just in academics that we have excelled here at St. Anne's. Our class has also produced some fierce athletes, such as Leah Craig playing for the Ontario Women's Hockey team in the 2003 Canada Winter Gaines and bringing home a spectacular silver medal, to Cal O'Reilly showing off his great hockey abilities for the Windsor Spitfires at the OHL level. to our senior girls' volleyball team "serving" their way to beautiful Hawaii over the March break: to Mr. Ditner's and Mr. Clancy's strong and ferocious rugby teams. being led by unbelievable seniors and making it all the way to Huron Perth for the males and on the girls side winning an amazing second place at WOSSAA, which was the furthest both teams had ever gone. As well. Mr. Voros' senior boy's soccer stars captured the hmnze at WOSSAA. As we sit here tonight. all together as a class for one last time, one sad memory that will always stay close to our hearts in the sudden passing of the irreplaceable Shawn Wilson. a young man. whose smile and ability to make everyone else around him smile, will never he forgotten. The sorrow we all feel with the great loss of such a wonderful friend has made our class realize the true importance of friendship and brought us even closer together. We have also been blessed with unforgettable great times, such as surviving the many walk-a- thons, getting to know ourselves better spiritually during retreats, and breaking down a move during our numerous dances and semi -formals. The many exciting trips the school has offered. whether it was to New York City. enjoying a picturesque gondola ride in Italy or Flamenco dancing in Spain, will be hard to forget. —We-400kcd_forward to every Friday at our school, this is when we were able to catch hilarious and informative segments of "Friday Live." This year's "Friday Effect" gave a chance to the entire. school to get to know our three fabulous Grade 12 exchange students. Barbara and Natalia from Germany and Rita from Brazil. At the many coffee houses. it was a joy to watch the surprising new talent and our fatuous existing talent have another chance to shine. The drama club provided exceptional and emotional live theatrical productions, such as "Second Overture" and "This is a Play.' I know I will personally never forget Taylor Graham's "This is a lettuce" monologue. We had a fabulous time during our fashion show, if it was strutting our stuff down the runway to Maurissa Meyers' and Meighan Monforton's smoothly -choreographed dance 1 ead veitet jutwte rtMK r1((aj UJ at Central Huron Secondary School steps or looking absolutely smashing while ushering and working hard back stage. Surprisingly we did not butcher the show as badly as some of us might have thought. As well, many of the ladies that are here tonight, recently cut off their beautiful locks of hair, in order to have wigs made for children all around Canada who live with cancer. The one event that made us truly feel like the seniors of the school, was our prom. The men looked absolutely dashing while the ladies looked stunningly gorgeous. l am sure that the teachers enjoyed watching us arrive in style and exiting from our interesting nodes of transportation. There were limos, limo buses. convertibles, a decorated prom van and the big beautiful yellow school bus. Our turn had finally come to kick up our feet and dance the night away. We will definitely miss those wonderful days when the wind decided to conic from the wrong direction. and surround us with the glorious wisps of dog food. Lisa Jamula's craw clothing choices on civvies days or questioning if the infamous "deer" will es er appear in our parking lot again? Some of us had horrific long bus rides, but they were also a great nine to socialize. and to cram in a little last minute studying. Having friends who could live up to an hour and a half away. creating large gasoline and long distance telephone bills to the delight of our parents. Being able to leave the truck unlocked. only to find that your friends had tilled it with feed. were some of the numerous advantages of attending a school in Huron County. 'Tonight is the night that we embark on a new chapter of our Imes and go our separate ways. Whatever our future will cast upon us. whether it' is to attend university. college. or to start in the work force. we can alum s remember that we are true eagles. and to soar like an eagle we must first spread our wings and tuck up our feet. Our time hcrc has taught us to spread oar wings and now it is time to take otl. Sonic of us will not have to fly too far. as we were pretty excited when we received our early acceptances back to Si Anne's next fail! Si Anne's is a place where we will always be welcome; it is our school. our home of four, three. two or even one year. whenever each of us wisely decided to join this community.
