Last Wednesday, June 30 saw the ladies' pairs team of Carol Carter, of Seaforth and Joanne Bugler of Exeter winning first prize in the Stratford (Canadian Tire) tournament. Thursday, July 1, Jack and Marie Muir won consolation prize at Goderich mixed pairs, and on Friday won fifth prize at St. Marys Barbecue tournament. Three teams were in Mitchell on Saturday at the C.I.B.C. mixed trebles tournament with Fred Tilley, Carol Carter and Lee Ryan winning second in a close match. Sunday, July 4, Rick Wood and Donna Beuerman won fifth at Exeter. Last Tuesday evening there was a good turnout for Tuesday evening jitney and high scores went to Carol Hey and Fred Tilley. Upcoming events will see the Seaforth club hold the Etue tournament on Wednesday at the Seaforth Greens starting at 10 a.m. Friday evening's jitney will see a little different format when after the first game strawberries and ice cream will be served before the second game. Special events committee is in charge. Seaforth Lawn Bowling Next Saturday, July 11 will be MP/LP tournament in Lucknow at IQ a.m. With Brussels and Atwood Clubs closing this year, a number of their tournaments scheduled in the lawn bowling book have been cancelled. This year the Seaforth Lawq Bowling Club is celebrating 75 years at their present location, but lawn howling began in the 1890s when the greens were located on the northwest corner of Crombie and Victoria Streets. Many will recognize this location as currently occupied by Bethel Bible Church. Compared with the present Lawn Bowling site, this location was considerably smaller hosting only nine greens with a small clubhouse on the west side. Lawn bowling in the early years remained a sport for men until 1929, when an official ladies' club was organized. But 1929 was also the year that the Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club moved from its initial location, to the present day site with 18 greens now known throughout Southwestern Ontario as good greens. by Mary Finlayson tJanet Amos is—1 back In her most outrageous role aveever! by Michel Marc Bouchard '1I Canadian Theatre BLYTH FESTIVAL 1'811'861'5984 www. bl yt h (estival . c o m How does an adventurous widow hold OO AA on to new love while trying to hide it IPt from meddling neighbours and off- spring?
