Melady clan patriarch comes
from Belle River for reunion

trucks lined the
front of St.
St. Columban
Columban Church as family members,
relatives and friends gathered recently in St.
Columban Church to witness the exchange of
wedding vows between J.D. Nolan and
Denise O'Reilly.
Father Lance Magdziak presided at mass
and officiated the wedding ceremony.
Witnessing the joyous occasion, along with
their pride and joy, Melanie Nolan, were their
parents, Dan and Rhonda Nolan and Greg and
Kathy O'Reilly. Also present were their
grandparents, Helen Nolan, Genny Ferguson,
Patricia O'Reilly and Frank and Marie
Bruxer.
Guests were greeted by Alissa and Nolan
MacCauley, the readings were by Paul
O'Reilly and Karen Van Bakel, the Prayers of
the Faithful were read by Helena Partridge,
Emily Lansink, Bridget O'Reilly and Adam
Nolan Jr. brought forth the Offertory Gifts.
Emmett O'Reilly and Jacob Janmaat were
the altar servers while Cheryl -Anne St. Onge
accompanied Don and Lindsay Sills in
singing the hymns, and Claudia Beirao played
the violin.
Guests gathered
after the
ceremony at the
home of the bride's parents to welcome the
couple. The young family are residents of St.
Columban.
Ferg Melady, one of the original patriarchs
of the Melady clan and his wife, Marie,
travelled from Belle River to the Melady
homestead for the Melady family reunion.
They were joined by approximately 50 other
Melady family members arriving from
Kitchener, London, Goderich and Belle River
as well as the local area.
The event was hosted by Tom and Joanne
Melady, Lisa and Danielle, who live on the
Melady family farm. Ferg Melady returned to
his original homestead for the day and shared
many stories of how farming was done when
he was young.
Family members enjoyed games facilitated
by Matthew Melady and wagon rides
travelling around the farm. Stories were
shared, as well as a potluck dinner. An
informal music jam session was also part of a
day thoroughly enjoyed by all.

of alcohol in her blood
after she was stopped by
Huron OPP in Blyth on
July 3 at 11:45 p.m.
She is scheduled to
attend court in Wingham
on Sept. 16.
