St.Columban
"Irishtown 11"- 3
London United- 2
Coaches' comments: St.
Columban opens the scoring about 10
minutes into the game. Erica Mahon's
laser beam -like corner kick is forced
into the back of the net by Tenna
Larsen. her fourth goal in regular
season action.
Twenty minutes into the game Tara
Sports
O'Reilly finishes with Jessica
Finlayson and Janis Kaspersma
assisting. The heat seems to take its
toll on the local side first as London
United begins to turn balance of
possession to their favour. Irishtown
keeper Meaghan O'Reilly keeps
London off the score sheet with a
couple of key saves. Half comes to an
end with the locals up 2-0.
London continues to apply pressure
in the early going of the second half
and are awarded a penalty shot after an
inadvertent hand ball in the penalty
area. Meaghan O'Reilly calmly pokes
the penalty shot wide of the goal and
keeps the score at 2-0.
London gets on the scoreboard
about 10 minutes into the second half
finishing off a cross with a well placed
header. Ten minutes later London
equalizes with a well placed 18 -yard
shot that soared over Meaghan
O'Reilly and into the far side of the
locals' goal.
Teams trade chances through the
rest of the match. With 10 minutes
remaining, St.Columban regains the
balance of possession and scores the
eventual game winner. Julianne
Crowley chases down a Mahon cross
and reverses the ball to Ltusen who is
15 yards from goal. Larsen passes the
ball squarely to Tara O'Reilly who
scores her second goal of the match by
firing a low shot across the area and
off the far post andinto the London
goal.
The locals first win this year in
regular season action.A performance
of true heart.determination and grit by
the Irishtown 11 overcoming the surge
of London United to taste victory.
The win vaults the locals out of
relegation territory and into seventh
place. The locals enjoy a well
deserved bye week this weekend and
continue the regular season with their
next match Friday June 25 in
Sarnia versus Sarnia City.

St.Columban Shamrocks - 2 vs
London Serbs • 3
Coaches' comment: Despite playing a
spirited 90 minutes and dominating
much of the play, the London Serbs
managed the victory with two late
goals.
The Shamrocks dominated the
majority of the first half but it was the
Serhs who scored first in the 25th
minute. on a quick break down the
field, off of a SI.Columban turnover.
A cross to the middle of the field from
the Serbian striker, deflected off of Jeff
Murray and past helpless goalie
Gerard O'Reilly. Despite almost
knocking himself out on the goalpost
trying to get to it, Murray was unable
to save the ball from crossing the line
and the score was 1-0.
St.Columban dominated much of
the second half and were finally
rewarded around the 60th minute on a
goal by Brian Melady, who was able to
curl the ball into the top left corner
using an errant pass from teammate
J.D. Deniers. Only 5 minutes later.
Demers and Melady would hook up
again for the second St. Columban
goal when Melady sent Demers in on
the Serbs' net with a long cross. After
beating the defence, J.D. put a low
hard shot past the Serbian goalkeeper.
St.Columban would hold the 2- 1
lead until 10 minutes lett in the game
when defensentan Jason Vander Velde
was called for a penalty shot after
forgetting you can't use your hands to
play the ball in soccer. The Serbian
mid -fielder promptly scored on the
ensuing penalty shot to tie the game 2-
2. Already disappointed. things
quickly turned from bad to worse:
when the Serhs scored with four
minutes left on a free kick just outside
the 18 yard box. Very good efforts
were put in by all but especially
defensetnan Mark Muir and centre
mid -fielders Mark Lynn and Matt
Szabo.
The Shamrock's next game is on
Sunday. June 27 at 4 pm in St.
Columban.

After returning to
Florence's home, we
continued our meeting and
learned more about the
parts of a sheep and how to
judge sheep for fair entries.
We also learned how to
make halters out of baler
twine.
