New Seaforth was to showcases town
By Susan Hundertmark
Expositor Editor
While Maureen Agar has
been working on a new
website for Seaforth for more
than a month now, she says
community participation will
help her to keep it up to date.
"We're hoping to keep it
current and we're hoping if
people find they're missed,
they'll let us know. That's the
only way to make it better,"
she says.
While Seaforth has had a
website for several years, the
site was recently updated at
www.townofseaforth.ca by
Agar and Design Heaven in
Brussels.
"We wanted a site that was
accessible in its own right,
not just a link to the Huron
East site," she says.
The brand new Seaforth
website, funded by the
Seaforth Community
Development Trust, gives
"more of a complete picture"
of Seaforth with pages that
"look like it was ripped from
a history book."

St. Columban family prays for their son
as he starts six-month Afghanistan mission
By Jason Middleton

A St. Columban family is
praying for the safe return
of their son, a Canadian
Armed Forces mechanic.
For Mary Ryan, of St.
Columban, her son telling
her he was being sent to
Afghanistan was not the
best news in the world.
"Let's just say I wasn't
thrilled," said Ryan.

"Paul is one of those rural MPs that does a great job
trying to represent his constituents in Ottawa"
Rick Morgan, The Angler and Hunter Television — 2004
Many Canadians feel that they no longer
have a say in Parliament. This is
because some M.P.s have opted to be
Ottawa's representative in the riding instead of being theriding's
representative in Ottawa. The Paul Martin Team is committed to
creating a political system that will enhance public participation
and confidence in the government.
Expressing the views of my constituents has always been my
first pricirity. I have never been afraid to stand up and speak on
behalf of my constituents, regardless of the issue. I have sought
the opinions of the residents of Huron-Eintce, listened carefully,
and most importantly, acted according to their wishes.

Ryan realizes that her son
has to exercise what he has
been taught.
"When you're in the
armed forces you're
constantly practising these
things. To them it's really
important to really go some
where and really practise
those skills," said Ryan.
For 19 years, Joseph, 37,
of CFB Winnipeg, has been
a mechanic in the Canadian
Armed Forces.
Since arriving in
Afghanistan in early June,
Joseph has had to deal with
temperatures as hot as 45 C.
"They told him there
that's only the beginning.
It'll be far worse than that
when it's over," said Ryan.
The mission also comes
with some conditions for his
family. They cannot send
letter with a return address
for security reasons.
"Maybe (it's) because of
where he's going. It's a
more dangerous place," said
Ryan.
Based out of CFB
Winnipeg, Joseph and his
wife Paula have three
children, Brent, 8, and four-
year-old twin girls, Megan
and Erin.
Previous missions have
seen Joseph with the United
Nations in the Golan
Heights, near Israel and
Palestine. He has been
stationed at an army base in
Lahr, Germany for a few
years. He has also flown on
supply missions to Croatia
and Bosnia.
As for this mission his
family is keeping him in
their thoughts and hope to
see him by December.
"We're praying for him
and we hope he's safe. We
look forward to seeing him
for Christmas," said Ryan.
