As the manager of family and community solutions with Kitchener -Waterloo Counseling, DeJong started to notice trends with a lot of her clients. "I was trying to rack my brain around what was going on here," says DeJong. One day DeJong found that instead of researching similar cases at the library she was instead writing the first draft of the hook. "It (the book) really is a model to show us how to make your best choices so you will be happy and will live your hest life," says DeJong.. The 160 -page book took DeJong three years to write and she says that is was one of the biggest obstacles that she's faced in her life. "1 was not a great English student to be quite honest," said DeJong. The book is divided into five sections, decision making, action plan. navigating, compassion and enjoyment. "When people are in our office we might give them some strategies to try. But then it's 'How do I remember what Deb told me to do?"' says DeJong. The acronym DANCE gives both clients and readers an easy way of remembering what they are supposed to do. "So it helps them make the transition of talking about something in session (or reading) to actually doing it in their life," she says. The book, which costs $18.95. was released earlier this year and DeJong is currently doing a book tour around the area. "I think (the book) it has the potential to put someone, if they're at a crossroads in their life, of making a healthy choice for themselves or a not so healthy choice. It gives them the depth needed to live their best life," says DeJong. She says that life decisions such as getting married are huge deci ' ns and should he made care �Ily. "They ake, decisions without putting a whole lot of thought into them. And our decisions make up front have the greatest impact on life satisfaction and life happiness," says DeJong. Growing up in the Mitchell -area, DeJong says the small town mindset has influenced her career. life and the hook. "1've gained a lot from Mitchell and I want to thank everyone that shared the dance floor of life with me there." she said. "I've learned something from every relationship I've been in and now I'm able to share that message outside the community and hopefully we'll go provincial." Correspondence Horticultural Society visits 146er Bend Gardens Seaforth and District Horticultural Society met Seaforth and District Horticultural Society at Northside United Church June 9 at 9 p.m. as IO of our members went to River Bend Gardens in Wroxeter while 5 waited at the church. Handguns and rifles stolen from Central Huron home, five local men charged Five young men, from H e n s a l l, C1i1nt0n, Mitchell, Bayfield and Vanastra were charged after five firearms were stolen from a residence on Hullett- McKillop Road in Central Huron sometime during the the week before June 7. Both handguns and rifles were stolen and the owner provided police with the names of some suspects. During the investigation, Huron OPP visited residences along Hydro Line in Central Huron, Clinton, Bayficld, Mitchell and Vanastra and found guns inside a barn, in residences and tossed away in a swampy location. An 18 -year-old Hensall man was charged with three counts of unauthorized possession of weapons, two counts of trafficking firearms, two counts of possession of prohibited/restricted firearms and ammunition, six counts of possession of firearm while prohibited, possession of property ohtaincd by crime. A 19 -year-old Clinton man was charged with unauthorized possession of firearms and possession of property obtained by crime. A 22 -year-old Vanastra man was charged with possession of property obtained by crime. possession of prohibited/restricted firearms, two counts of possession of firearms and breaching probation. A 25 -year-old Mitchell man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with undertaking, possession of a weapon obtained by crime and possession of property obtained by crime. A 26 -year-old Bayficld man was charged with possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm, possession of property ohtaincd by crime and preaching probation. All five were scheduled to attend court in Goderich for a hail hearing.on June 10. ..•
