The 25 students from Grades 7 to 9 recreated Blue by Eiffel 65 to develop an interest in promoting media -at Central Huron Secondary School on May 7 and 10. "With the help of Stephen Oliver and his Digital Media Studies (DMS) students," John Munnings, a member of the gifted program, said the class completed their own music video. At the beginning of the module, .Gary Paquette said the students gathered to discuss the project and then divided into camera, Web site creation, acting, set design, set dressing and directing groups. "There was a period of time where each group had to set up their different aspects." said Emma Pella. She added sets had to be built, props had to be prepared and costumes had to be designed. Paquette said, "Actors learned to lip sync and fake along to the music with their instruments." "On Friday afternoon, we filmed for two -and -a -half hours in three different settings," said Jody Hamers. Matt Fisher added, "We got all of the shots we needed but there was a lot of down-time between shoots. That's why we went overtime." After filming, Shaunessy Sinnett said the film had to be edited.According to Sebastian Keller, the video will be marketed and promoted wen editing is finished. "Each member of the program will get a copy of the video," he added. The Warping Waveforms and Painting Pixels module is the last of four that the gifted students attended, said teacher Cindy Carlson. Sinnett said it was the best module. Keller added it opens doors to future interests and careers. That was the message from Huron -Bruce MP Paul Steckle last week after hundreds of photographs showing Iraqi prisoners being abused by American and British soldiers began to surface. "Given what's been happening in recent days in uncovering some of this material we can only be more than happy that we weren't in that war back a year ago," Steckle said. "I think we as Canadians should be proud that we have been on the side of peacekeeping and restoration and being on surveillance in the Persian Gulf." Chair for this term is Joe Steffler and secretary is Doug Elliott. The H.E./Seaforth Community Development Trust has accomplished many things that are beneficial to the community of Seaforth and for the citizens. The Seaforth Post Office building is nearly finished. Canada Post has done extensive renovations to their area and now the citizens of the community have an up-to-date postal facility for their use as well as a place where many people meet on a daily basis to pass the time. Most of the building has been renovated and/or spruced up, which has allowed the Trust to rent the space in this great building. The Trust will be holding an open house so that everyone in the community can see the building and talk to members of the Trust. The new Community Care Access Centre facility is up and running. Outside landscaping will be finished as soon as the weather permits. We offer a friendly welcome to all of the employees of the C.C.A.C. office and 11tL - hope they enjoy the - community of Seaforth. This facility is a fantastic example of what the citizens of a wonderful community can do when everyone pitch- es in. The volunteers who helped construct this building are to be commended for their commitment to this project. Seaforth now has a beautiful building where the young children of our com- munity can be taken for daycare. This facility will definitely be the envy of many communities. The H.E./Seaforth Development Trust meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15th, 2004 from 2-4 p.m. at the Post Office building, 52 Main St, Seaforth.
