All of their children, and most of their grandchildren attended a family gathering ; hosted by their daughter, Marianne and Bill Walt, Grant, Darren, Monica and Brad, in Mitchell. In attendance were: Karen and Lance Robinson, Victoria, B.C., Kevin and Nancy Kale, Patrick and Michael; Larry and Dena Kale, and Cameron, Pittsburgh, Penn.; Marvin Kale, White Rock, B.C.; Margo and Paul Bode, Leslie and Ellen, Aylmer; and Marijo and Jeff McKellar, Clare and Grace, London. Also joining the family celebration for Tom were Pat O'Reilly and Mary Catherine Lane. Tom listened to a few renditions of "Happy Birthday" from his friends at the Seaforth Bakery and also at Dianna's in St. Columban. The sympathy of the St. Columban community is extended to Mrs. Frances Melady, Jim and Dorothy Delaney, and Joe Delaney on the recent loss of their sister, Anne Blonde. The community was visited by Father Joseph Hardy, St. Thomas, during Holy Week and Easter, and he was present for the celebrations. One of the highlights was the annual bake sale held by the parishioners in St. Columban, with the proceeds going to their sister parish in Consuelo, Dominican Republic. Thoughts are definitely turned to spring now, as the local farmers can be seen busy in the fields, and the local soccer fields are being prepared for another season. Students at St. Columban School will soon see the beginning of their new playground installed. Many people in the local community and the school community have worked very hard over the last few years to bring this project to fulfilment. The students will also be preparing for Education Week activities, which run Cheryl Heath photo Don't worry be hoppy Six-year-old Desiree Mason adjusts her bunny ears Wednesday during the Tuckersmith Day Nursery's Hop-a- Thon fund-raiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
