The minor basketball
program, held by the
Seaforth recreation
department for the past
several months at Seaforth
Public School comes to an
end this week. last Thur
night, at top left Olin\,
Campbell, 10, pus his all into

Hurricanes do well at Waterloo spring meet
The Huron Hurricanes
attended The Spring
Turbocharge Meet hosted by
the Region of Waterloo at the
50 -metre pool at Wilfrid
Laurier University on April 3.
Ten clubs with a total of
180 swimmers from the
Southwestern Ontario Region
attended the long course meet.
Many swimmers from the
Hurricanes posted personal
best times. With a combined
team of 11 junior and senior
swimmers and accompanied
by parents and coach Julia
Pettapiece, the Hurricanes
were well represented in the
day's events.
Katelyn Riley, from the
Seaforth area, posted three
first personal best times in the
long course for the girls 11
and under 100 -metre Freestyle
with a time of 1:55.64 and in
the 100 -metre Backstroke
with a time of 2:11.69.
Her third event which
earned her a good time was
the 100 -metre Breaststroke at
2:35.33.
Meaghan Livingston. of
Vanastra swam in the 11 and
under 100 -metre Freestyle
event finishing with a personal
best time of 1:33.62.
In the 100 -metre
Backstroke, she finished with
a good time of 2:07.55 and
shaved two seconds off in her
100 -metre Breaststroke to
finish with a personal best
time of 2:03.75.
Bridget Livingston, of
Vanastra, the only Hurricane
in the 12-13 girls' events, had
an excellent day of swimming
posting all personal best times.
In the 100 -metre Freestyle ,
she finished with a time of
1:30.12 and finished the 200 -
metre Freestyle with a time of
3:12.01. In the 100 -metre
Backstroke, she shaved four
seconds off to finish with a
time of 1:43.56.
Nickolas Vaessens, of the
Hensall area had an excellent
day of swimming in the boys'
12-13 events where he posted
ke a
Line
all personal best times, cutting
many seconds off all of his
previous times.
He completed his
swimming day with an
excellent swim in the 100 -
metre Butterfly well under
two minutes with a personal
best time of 1:53.68.
Christy Hartmann, of
Hensall, had a strong swim in
the girls' 14-15 100 -metre
Breaststroke earning a third
place with a time of 3:44.66.
Sarah Vaessen, also of
Hensall, had an excellent day
of swimming with a personal
best time of 1:22.04 in the 14-
15 100 -metre Freestyle. This
was 15 seconds faster than her
seed time.
Vaessen also cut nine
seconds off her time in the
100 -metre Backstroke to
finish in 1:47.07.
She had another strong
swim in the 100 -metre
Breastroke with a time of
1:53.97 and finished the day
swimming a personal best
to

The swimmers enjoyed a
full day at the Wilfrid Laurier
University Pool, and a great
day of team spirit. It was a
great way to get ready for the
Team Champs weekend at
Etobicokc Olympium
beginning April 23.
